Good Luck Cellars
1025 Good Luck Road, Kilmarnock, VA
Hours: Year Round
Seven years ago, vineyard owners, Paul and Katie Krop shared a vision of creating a community-based vineyard and winery out of a parcel of land that had been used for mining top soil, sand, and gravel. The earth remaining from the mine was full of sand and gravel - perfect for cultivating grapevines. With the help of an amazing team of experts and the support of family and friends, Paul and Katie have planted 12 acres of vines and an impressive production facility for all of their estate-grown wines.
Paul and Katie's passion for the chemistry of winemaking stems from their first career in medicine. They began making wine in small batches in their home in Virginia Beach out of fruits grown in their own backyard. When they discovered the Good Luck land just outside of Kilmarnock, they saw a perfect location to expand their hobby into a business.
Gauthier Vineyard
5000 Farmers Drive, Barhamsville, VA
Hours: Year Round
Gauthier Vineyard, LLC, is a family-owned working farm, equestrian center, vineyard and winery located in scenic New Kent County near the intersection of the Lafayette and Washington-Rochambeau trails to Yorktown.  The owners, Mo and Sandi Gauthier, both retired Navy Captains, purchased their "Fair Winds" farm in 2010.  Like most ground in the county, the farm is rich in history.  Local relic hunters have validated its service as a Civil War encampment for both Union and Confederate forces during the lengthy Peninsula Campaign.Â
The Gauthier's built their state-of-the art equestrian center in 2011. The equestrian center offers boarding, training, lessons, clinics and competitive events.  We are pleased to have Arleen Hensley, international and ApHC show judge, relocate from North Carolina to spearhead establishing the center.  Her newly formed 2013 Junior Hensley Show Horse team won numerous awards during their first year of competition.  Arleen has over thirty years of experience breeding, training and showing championship appaloosa, paint, and quarter horses in numerous equestrian disciplines.   Â

Vintner's Cellar Winery of Yorktown
1213-c George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, VA
Vintner's Cellar Winery of Yorktown is an urban (suburban?) winery in Yorktown, VA. Jennifer & Glen Parks started the winery in 2006 as a place where the local community could come in to learn about winemaking and make custom wines. Today, Vintner's Cellar Yorktown remains Yorktown, Virginia's only winery. The winery is now under the ownership of Brandon & Janet Johnson who have maintained the Vintner's Yorktown tradition of a family owned winery.
Vintner's Cellar Winery of Yorktown has a storefront tasting room and production space where we handcraft upwards of 40 wine varietals. We specialize in small batch fruit fusion wines and offer a casual tasting environment. It's an unconventional take on wine that our customers have come to love.
Chatham Vineyards
9232 Chatham Road, Machipongo, VA
Hours: Year Round
Jon Wehner is a second-generation winegrower on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He learned about grape growing from his parents who operated Great Falls Vineyard in Great Falls, Virginia for thirty years. He and his wife and their three children own and operate the vineyard and winery. Since 1999, more than twenty acres of high-density (1,740 vines per acre) French vinifera varietals have been planted. They are Merlot (clone 181 and 3 on rootstock 101-14 and 3309), Chardonnay (French Dijon clones 95/96 and 76, and California Clones 4 and 5 on 3309 rootstock), Cabernet Franc (clone 214 on 101-14 rootstock), Cabernet Sauvignon (clone 337 on 101-14 rootstock) and Petit Verdot (clone 400 on 101-14 rootstock). The vineyards are cane pruned during the winter months to balance the vines and limit yields to less than 4 tons per acre thereby concentrating wine flavors. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted before pressing to ensure the highest quality of the juice. Grapes not vinified at the winery are sold to other wineries in Virginia.
Smithfield Winery
117 North Church Street, Smithfield, VA
What started as a hobby and an attempt to make fresh wines grew into a brick and mortar location in 2013. The dream of becoming a house of bubbly took shape with the purchase of the building at 117 N. Church Street, in the heart of historic downtown Smithfield. The initial building had an interesting history of hosting a multitude of functionalities including being a laundromat and for public works storage. After extensive construction and a total revamp of the interior and exterior of the building we opened our tasting room to the public.
In 2016, with an absolutely overwhelming positive response to our bubblies and near daily requests for private events, we decided to take our original dreams to its next phase and expand. Buildings 119 and 121 N. Church Street became part of the Smithfield Winery Family. However, the difficult decision was made to close our beloved tasting room during the extensive construction process. After years of renovating and the almost total reconstruction of the interiors and exteriors of these buildings, we began to slowly reopen by hosting private events.
Over the next few years we experienced both personal and public adversities that directly impacted our plans to move forward with reopening our public tasting room. However, despite the hardships we encountered during this time we purchased a commercial grade champagne bottling line, in the hopes of one day being able to produce several of our adored bubblies on a larger scale. It is still that dream that continues to drive us, and with the expansion of events we move closer and closer to accomplishing those dreams.
For those of you that have been with us and supported us in the face of adversity, thank you does not even begin to cover our gratitude and love that we have for each of you. We hope that those of y'all we have opened wines with, popped bubblies with, and made memories with will continue to share your times here, and we look forward to the day that we can share in those tasting room experiences again. In the meantime we continue to host some of the most wonderful weddings and private events in Virginia. Besides the completely custom and dream-like setting within our venue, we offer an added element of privacy and exclusivity that sets our location apart from public locations. Unmatched intimacy and charm is our greatest compliment and only adds to a level of attention to detail that we strive to deliver at each event.
Behind the scenes, we have continued and will continue to craft small batches of our bubblies and still wines for our couples and private events. Each of our bottles is a labor of love – we take great care and pride knowing our wines and bubblies meet our standards of perfection and will be enjoyed by our friends, family, and wonderful clients. Our wines and bubblies are handcrafted with no outsourcing. What you experience in your glass you can rest assured has been hand foraged onsite and cultivated by our in house winemaker. The Weiss family first began making still wines in small batches at home. Stationed in various locations overseas, we were fortunate to experience winemaking first hand at several local and family vineyards. Eventually moving back stateside, we continued and honed our winemaking skills and expanded into the creation of sparkling wines that we lovingly call bubblies. Our passion for making bubbly is evergreen, and we know we will continue to create sparkling wines that transformed the way we know and drink them!
Hampton Roads Winery
6074 New Design Road, Elberon, VA
Get us talking about the creation of Hampton Roads Winery and you will need a glass of wine (a full bottle if you are hearing the long version!) Back about 16 years ago, Diane and I were discussing our life once we retired. We talked about all the typical things, but in the end it came down to 2 choices: either sail around the world for the rest of our lives, or set up a vineyard-winery. Diane nixed the sailing option since the possibility of being kidnapped by Somali pirates didn't appeal to her. So that left us with the task of locating some appropriate land to start a vineyard.
We first looked over by Asheville, thinking Biltmore would be a good magnet for tourist traffic. The land there didn't meet our requirements, so from there we started looking over in Nelson County. Unfortunately for us, U.S.News & World Report proclaimed Charlottesville as the #1 place to retire, catapulting farm land prices five-fold upwards. It became clear we had to look elsewhere, so we focused on the Hampton Roads area.
We purchased our first piece of land in the Bacon's Castle district of Surry County, and planted our first 4 varieties in 2008. Two years later we planted another 2 Bordeaux varieties, and in 2012 we purchased White Oak Farm, located in Elberon on the opposite corner of Surry County. White Oak Farm was to be the location of our new winery.
In 2014 we started building, and the following year our son Rich joined us to manage the vineyard part of the operation. In April of 2016 we had our Grand Opening, and as they say; "The rest is history".

Monroe Bay Winery
4786 James Monroe Hwy, Colonial Beach, VA
Our Story:
Owner Kiki's story starts over two decades ago, when she bought her very first house, located in the South of France. A beautiful stone watermill along a vast river, purchased without seeing the inside, in a country whose language she barely spoke. Most people thought she was a bit crazy, including her own mother, and maybe she was, but she has loved every moment she's spent there painting, planting flowers and enjoying wine in the sunshine of France. She has never lost her love of wine and water. Her passion for wine making start with a decade of home wine making then to first planting of grapes to a commercial winery.

Castle Glen Winery

The Vineyard:
Quality & Passion
At Castle Glen, we’ve always believed that wine should be an adventure. Ours began a quarter-century ago, when a favorite pastime of ours soon became a weekly obsession. We would spend weeks tasting only Merlot from all over the world. The next week, we would taste the various personalities of Cabernet Sauvignon. Our passion in creating the finest wines demands only the best in quality.
The Finest Grapes
We founded our winery, or rather, it found us on our historic Doswell, Virginia estate. We planted our first vines in 2009 and began selling wine in 2015. The adventure is now yours to share. We’ve perfected various red & white wine varieties and have specialty wines, as well.

Effingham Manor and Winery
14325 Trotters Ridge Pl, Nokesville, VA
In 2015, Chris Pearmund and his partners purchased Effingham Manor, with the intention of marrying the history of Virginia, and the history of Virginia Winemaking. The task at hand was to keep the elegance of Effingham Manor as the property for the front while providing guests a day at a Virginia winery.
The first step was to clear the grounds. We replanted 30 new species of plants. The swimming pool was transformed into a Koi pond with over 50 fish, much bigger than a wine bottle. The Historic Slave House, most recently used as a guest home for previous owners of Effingham, was converted to a small gathering space, honoring those who lived inside the four walls many years ago.
Next, there was a building to build. The Winery building was built, using a state-of-the-art Geothermal HVAC system. The Barrel Room was crafted, with room for 110 barrels. Inside the winery building are three tasting bars, fireplaces, soft seating and room for multiple guests, with the ability to transform into a wedding venue for 150 people.
A sister winery to Pearmund Cellars and Vint Hill Craft Winery, we wanted the Effingham wine line up to be unique. Using varietals found in Virginia, such as Traminette, Viognier, Petit Verdot and Norton, Effingham Manor tells the story of Virginia’s wine history. Along the way, Effingham’s wines have picked up international awards, including our 2017 Tannat being named one of the top 10 wines in the country by Wine Enthusiast.

The Winery At Bull Run
15950 Lee Highway, Centreville, VA
About Us
Established in 2012 as a scenic working farm vineyard, The Winery at Bull Run lies on 225 acres adjacent to Manassas National Battlefield Park and next door to an equestrian farm. The winery itself was built to represent the two types of historic barns in Northern Virginia—a smaller 1800s-style barn and a larger 1920s-era dairy barn complete with a hayloft and hay lift cable and beam. Our passion for the history of the land led us to create the largest working farm in Fairfax County and to salvage the old stone foundation of the Hillwood Mansion, burned in a fire some 30 years ago—now a perfect altar and elevated stage for outdoor wedding ceremonies and events.
Mountain Run Winery
10753 Mountain Run Lake Road, Culpeper, VA
Set on a 125-year-old farm, Mountain Run is a quintessential family-operated farm winery. Opened in 2016, Mountain Run quickly became known for its charming pastoral setting, friendly service, and wide range of award-winning wines, meads, and hard cider. Our one-of-a-kind tasting room is built in a 1950’s corn crib, complete with slatted walls that allow for the free passage of air through the building, and adjoining bays that have held tractors and hay wagons for the better part of the last century. As soon as you step inside the weathered oak walls of our buildings, you will feel the deep agricultural history of the setting come alive. Both kid and dog friendly, and with a playground to boot. Whether you are looking for a cozy couch indoors, a wooden table inside a 120-year-old barn, or a place under the shade of a black walnut tree, there is something for everyone at Mountain Run Winery.
