The Virginia Beer Company
401 Second Street , Williamsburg, VA
About us:
We are a former financial analyst, a former consultant, and a former high school teacher turned professional brewer joining forces to open a community-based and philanthropy-focused force for good in the form of a brewery! The seed for such a business was sown in 2007, during the co-founders' time at the nearby College of William & Mary (over a beer or two at the local craft beer bar, if we're honest). In 2010, "We could do it?" became "We should do it!" and research & planning began in earnest. The search for a suitable facility began in 2012, and following more than two years of agonizing near-misses and endless building tours, we finally found our home, less than two miles from the heart of Downtown Williamsburg. 401 Second Street is the future home of The Virginia Beer Company
Tradition Brewing Company
700 Thimble Shoals Blvd, Newport News, VA
In 2014 we started sketching out plans to build the first craft brewery in our hometown of Newport News. From the beginning, the goal was to create a space where people from all walks of life could find commonalities and camaraderie over quality craft beer. And to have a little fun along the way.
In 2016 we opened our doors to the public. The support we received from the community was mind-blowing, and left us humbled and excited for the years to come.
Today, we sport a 4,000 square foot Taproom with a Mezzanine Loft, complete with a secondary bar and ample seating. The windows overlook our production area, housing two 20bbl fermenters, three 40bbl fermenters, and two brite tanks. We fire up the canning line frequently, packaging almost all of our beers to-go.
Smartmouth Brewing Company
1309 Raleigh Avenue, Norfolk, VA
OConnor Brewing Company
211 West 24th Street, Norfolk, VA
About Us:
At O’Connor Brewing Co. we are all about having fun, building a strong community, and hand-crafting unique, innovative products—in other words, brewing great beer.
20 years ago Kevin O’Connor wrote his final college paper on starting his own brewery, and on St. Patrick’s Day 2010 O’Connor Brewing Co. brewed its first batch, becoming one of Coastal Virginia’s very first craft breweries. What started from humble beginnings in a small garage warehouse has expanded to become a World Beer Cup Award winning brand, with 40 employees, dozens of styles, and a growing legion of fans who choose O’Connor beer for its quality and consistency.
O’Connor beer drinkers come from all walks of life, but what brings them together is a love of the small, simple joys in life. The pleasure of being outdoors, relaxing on the beach with friends, having dinner with family after a day of hard work, and of course, enjoying a fresh, flavorful beer. They appreciate the O’Connor brand for its approachability and authenticity. They value its independent spirit, that it remains family owned and operated, and its support of the local community. And their loyalty has established it as a mainstay brand with sustained success. With El Guapo Agave IPA leading the way as the #1 Virginia craft brand in the state, O’Connor Brewing is well on its way to becoming Virginia’s leading, independent craft brewery. And as distribution continues to expand up and down the East Coast, O’Connor Brewing Co. moves further along its path to becoming a major mid-Atlantic regional brand, as well as one of the best craft breweries in America.

Big Ugly Brewing Company
845 South Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA
About Us:
Big Ugly has it's roots in home brewing. Jim Lantry became interested when his wife gave him a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas more than 12 years ago. He moved on to brewing with malt extract before switching entirely to grain.
Brewing was a social event in the neighborhood, and Jim and Shawn Childers began formulating different beer concepts for future brews. After an understandable learning curve - and also having the experience of collectively sampling more than 4,000 different beers through a neighborhood tasting club - improvements started to show in the beers to the point the two idealized about opening a brewery.
In February of 2015 their ideas came to fruition, and they opened Chesapeake's first brewery, which is garage-centric due to Jim and Shawn's collection of vintage vehicles. The brewery's namesake comes from Shawn's 1955 Chevy panel truck. The space was designed with exposed equipment so guests know they are in a working brewery.
Shawn's British motorcycles are scattered about, including two mounted to the floor as seating. Jim's Volkswagon bus serves as a private-seating area with a custom-made tabletop made by a neighborhood friend. Most nights there are as many as 10 "Big, Bold, Beers" guaranteed to please on tap, including a number of popular sour beers.
They have also started barrel-aging beer and look to release more than 10 different varieties during the upcoming year.

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
2410 Ownby Ln, Richmond, VA
Our Mission: to become one of the most respected brewers in the United States through integrity in our ingredients and in our business practices, through respect for brewing heritage, and through the inspired creation of extraordinary beers.
Integrity is paramount in both our ingredients and in our business practices. Hardywood will never compromise when selecting ingredients and adapting techniques, nor when hiring new team members. We will strive to be valuable contributors to the local Richmond community, and to the broader community of craft brewers that is growing nationwide.
Heritage plays a central role in our tremendous respect for beer and brewing. More than 50 centuries of talented brewers before us, including three generations in Master Brewer Patrick Murtaugh's direct lineage, will influence our approach to every aspect of our end product, from the presentation to the libation. Each of our recipes is designed with an adherence to tradition, yet a healthy dose of innovation.
Inspired creation is what led us to start a brewery, and it will remain a central theme in our approach to brewing. With our pilot brewery, we will tirelessly strive to create extraordinary beers, and will not graduate a recipe to our full brewhouse until it is capable of providing those who imbibe Hardywood's beers with a truly ethereal experience. We hope to brew with local ingredients whenever possible and will collaborate with farmers, coffee roasters, chocolatiers, spice makers and other artisans in the region to brew beers that showcase the terroir of central Virginia.

Tin Cannon Brewing Company
7679 Limestone Drive, Suite 130, Gainesville, VA
Our Story
Aaron Ludwig and John Hilkert met through their children. The boys were in the same Sunday school class and liked to get together and play. Aaron was a home brewer who had a professional set up at home - a brew room, all electric equipment (that he built from scratch) - the works. John had been brewing in his garage, having been banished from the kitchen after a boil over (or two). John's wife suggested that he contact Aaron and maybe they could brew together. Thus, it all began.
Aaron and John were passionate about creating new and unique beers. Any style was open to interpretation. Historically, Aaron brewed more traditional styles, while John liked to veer slightly off of the classic path and push style guidelines to the edge. Together, they made some great brews.
At Tin Cannon we're continually experimenting with new ideas. Of course, it takes great consideration to design a style that pushes the limits, and we don't make changes just for the sake of being different. When it comes to our beers we look for ingredients that complement and contrast certain flavors. We immerse ourselves into the selection of the finest raw ingredients, artfully adding a pinch of this and a pound of that, to create a product that reflects both our skill and imagination. Tin Cannon's craft beers are passionately and artfully created, crafted, kegged and served onsite in our Gainesville, Virginia brewery / taproom.
Our Name
Ever said anything "tongue in cheek"? We have...
An ode to our area's past: We are located in an area of tremendous Civil War heritage. Just drive down Route 29 through the Manassas Battlefield and you will see memorials, 1800s era structures and of course, cannons.
A nod to humor: Ever fired a weapon? What was it made of? Guaranteed it wasn't made from tin or you wouldn't be reading this. Moreover, before calling beverage cans "aluminum cans", they were known as "tin cans".
When discussing the 2 barrel brewhouse design, Aaron (the engineer) drew up a sketch on graph paper. After showing it to John, John said that the vessels looked like soup cans - and people would call us the "soup can" brewery. They laughed about it and then said, "like the old tin cans from back in the day." With the help of several beers, that idea morphed into "Tin Cannon."

Barking Rose Brewing Company and Farm
9057 Old Culpeper Road, Warrenton, VA
Our story begins in 2012. That's when Forge Brew Works was formed, the first production brewery ever in Fairfax County, Virginia. In our Lorton location, we grew from our initial 1 bbl brewhouse (which still acts as our pilot system!) to a 5 bbl brewhouse, to eventually our 10 bbl brewhouse that we use now.
As we grew and changed as a business, so too did our personal life. Matt met Ashley, we got hitched, and together they moved out to Warrenton, Virginia. When the lease at the Lorton location was nearing the end, we made the decision that the next step in growth was to buy our own space and take up farming, so that's what we did.
We purchased 11 acres in Warrenton, and we've named our new farm (but same brewery!) Barking Rose, after Ashley's maiden name Barker and our family name Rose.
With our space growing, so did our family, as we've added Charlie and Sawyer to Matt, Ashley, Lance, (Alastair, Viktor, Kelsey, and Arabella, we can't forget our dogs and cat), and our family farm and brewery took shape.
We brew the same styles we always have, Belgian Ales and German Lagers, because mostly that's what Matt likes and since he's the brewer, that's what we get. We would love for you to come out and try them, along with all the new beers we get to brew with our farm grown ingredients.
Lost Rhino Brewing Company
21730 Red Rum Drive #142, Ashburn, VA
Our name comes from a surfing term, rhino chaser: someone out to find the best waves, the biggest waves - an adventurer.
Lost Rhinoʼs founders, Matt Hagerman and Favio Garcia, set out on an adventure of their own: a coast-to-coast journey in search of discovering the greatest traditions and the wildest frontiers of beer brewing. Our beers are inspired by the experience of choosing the scenic route, the tough challenge, the road less traveled. In the brew house, we take pride in bringing together a global perspective and locally harvested ingredients.
Everything we craft is personal, from our innovative pursuit to cultivate wild Virginia yeast strains from nearby orchards, meadows, and even fossils, to our steadfast dedication to support local Virginia farms
Beer Hound Brewery Company

Far Gohn Brewing Company

Far Gohn is a "Tavern Brewery" serving the Culpeper area that celebrates the German immigrant contribution to the American beer tradition but also embraces the variety of beer styles from all over the world. We are that hole in the wall place that you've never heard of unless you live around here, and that's just fine by us. We don't distribute anywhere and never plan to. We love visitors from out of town because we have heard all the stories from the locals several times already. We provide a rotating tap list of hand crafted beer, great homemade pizza, good times, and zero pretension.
