The mission of the Center for the Performing Arts is to engage and inspire the Central Indiana community through enriching arts experiences.
Who We Are
The Center for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization responsible for the operation and programming of a multidisciplinary performing arts campus in Carmel, Indiana. The facilities include the Palladium, a state-of-the-art 1,600-seat concert hall; the Tarkington, a 500-seat proscenium theater; and the Studio Theater, a versatile black box with a seated capacity of 200. The Center presents scores of events each year and provides space and support services for six resident companies: Actors Theatre of Indiana, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, Civic Theatre, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre, and Indiana Wind Symphony.
The Center is permanently affiliated and collaborates extensively with the Great American Songbook Foundation, a distinct nonprofit organization that has offices and an exhibit gallery in the Palladium. Founded by the Center’s artistic director, performer and preservationist Michael Feinstein, the Foundation works to advance the legacy of timeless music from the worlds of jazz, pop, Broadway, and Hollywood.

The Park Theatre Civic Centre is the gem of North Vernon, Indiana: a performing arts venue, a classic movie house, a civic gathering place and a focal point of a renewed, historic Hoosier downtown. Originally opened in 1916, this stage saw performances from vaudeville acts to silent films. Open primarily as a movie house through the 40s and 50s, it closed in the 1960s as business declined and larger movie theaters opened in the surrounding counties.

Theatre At The Center

Theatre at the Center (TATC) is the resident theatre at the Center for the Performing Arts. Its 5 Mainstage productions attract an audience of over 50,000 annually. TATC operates on an Actors Equity contract and regularly employs the finest performers in the greater Chicago area for its year-round seasons of classic American musicals, new plays and comedies. Other programming includes 4 Theatre for Young Audiences productions annually, theatre classes for young people and special events, including music, comedy and limited run theatrical works. A not for profit organization, TATC is sustained by grants (including the Indiana Arts Commission), individual donations and major support from the Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana.

Celebrating 45 years, Amish Acres Arts and Crafts Festival has been ranked as the 10th Best Classic and Contemporary Craft Show in the Country for 2007, the highest honor for any Indiana show, by Sunshine Artist Magazine. The American Bus Association (ABA) selected the Arts & Crafts Festival as a Top 100 Event in North America in 2003 and again in 2006.
350 artists and crafters from around the country surround Amish Acres pond to apply their trade and sell their wares. Live entertainment on three stages throughout the day includes country bands, magicians and square dancing. Festival foods are a very important part of the four day event featuring everything from apple pie to zucchini bread. $10,000 in cash prizes, children's entertainment tent and much more have earned the festival the honor of being one of the Top 200 festivals in the nation and the 8th Top Traditional Crafts Show by Sunshine Artist Magazine. The Arts & Crafts Festival has also been rated as one of Leisure Group Travel Magazine's Top 50 Outstanding Festivals and events.
Continuous Entertainment on 3 Stages, Roving Clowns, Medicine Show & Musicians, Square & Line Dancing, Paddle Boats, Cloggers, Festival Foods from Roast Pork to Preaching Pies, Tasty Ice Cream to Sassafras Iced Tea, Amish Acres Tour, Rides, Shops, Famous Family-Style Restaurant, Round Barn Theatre Showing Plain and Fancy, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Old time music fills the main stage while kids ride the swan paddle boats on the pond.
Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival
First producing events in 2000 under the name of “Summer Shakespeare,” the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival has grown exponentially in subsequent years to include a number of regular performances and frequent special events.
Each season now includes a production by its Professional Company, traveling performances by the Touring Company (including visits to area middle and high schools), and opportunities on its stages for local residents in its Community Company collaborations: ShakeScenes, Shakespeare After Hours, Shakespeare in Fremont Park, and Shakespeare Around the Bend.
Additional programs feature special events such as guest artists, lectures, and presentations.
The mission of the NDSF is simple: To enrich our surrounding communities educationally, socially, and culturally by exploring the works of William Shakespeare and other classical authors through performance.
Elkhart Civic Theatre

For more than 50 years, Elkhart Civic Theatre has been performing a wide variety of theatrical entertainment in Elkhart County, Indiana. From small beginnings as the Elkhart Little Theatre in the late 1940s, presenting one or two plays a year in borrowed or rented facilities, the organization has grown to a full-fledged arts organization.
Today, ECT owns and operates the Bristol Opera House, a 100-year-old theatre in Bristol, Indiana, where it performs the bulk of its productions. ECT produces a six-show season, usually consisting of four non-musicals and two musicals. There is also a summer musical, a Christmas season musicale and other special events.
In recent years, ECT has gained statewide and regional recognition as one of the best community theatres in the midwest.
In 2003, at the AACT/Fest in Torrington, CT., ECT placed third in the national community theatre excerpt competition which places it as one of the best community theatres in the United States.
