History
Ditzler Orchard is family owned and operated. Established by Gale and Patricia Ditzler in 1972, the orchard offered a local market for fresh fruit in the mid 1970’s when small orchards were common in the area. Planting just 100 trees initially, Gale hoped to supplement his income while raising his children with exposure to both the art of producing food and the responsibilities of running a business.
What began as a hobby farm became a regional business, expanding to over 2000 trees by 1990. Operations had expanded to include a cider press and wholesale to other local markets. By the mid 80’s the Ditzler children had all moved on to careers in other areas, returning often to assist in the operation. In 2001, the youngest son, John, moved home to operate the orchard for his aging parents, and brother Mauri established CHERRYWOOD FARM nearby to partner with the orchard and expand the business with a pick-your-own berry operation and pumpkin farm; two things both brothers had experienced and enjoyed.
In 2012, CHERRYWOOD FARM LLC, under the ownership of Judith and Mauri Ditzler, assumed management of orchard operation and expanded the pick-your-own experience to include apples, cherries and peaches. DITZLER ORCHARD remains a regional source for quality fruit and berries as well as a source for fresh unpasteurized apple cider and other local produce.

Musgrave Orchard
8820 North Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN
Core Farms CSA began as a "community supported agriculture" operation. CSA consists of a community of individuals and families who pledge support to the farms operation and share the risks and benefits of local food production. Our CSA families pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farms operation. In return, they receive share's in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as the satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land and participating directly in local food production. CSA families also share in the risks of farming, including poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pests.
Core Farms CSA began in the summer of 2004, with 24 families participating in our 20 week summer season, creating connections between families and farmers. During the 2013 season we grew produce for over 100 families (for the sixth straight season), and we just finishing our twelfth summer CSA season.Â
We are proud to say that many of our original families are still with us!
As Core Farms CSA continues to educate our community about the importance of buying and eating fresh locally grown produce, we will provide knowledge about food production through hands-on workshops, family garden series, and plant a row projects. Amy and Andy Hamilton created Core Farms CSA, farm vegetables at their farm, New Growth Gardens, also own and operate Musgrave Orchard. They appreciate the past and future support from the numerous families who have supported them and their farms for the past six years.

Our History
Paul and Carolyn Anderson started Anderson Orchard in 1969. Paul's vision was to have an orchard where customers had the freedom to pick their own apples. This is how they started and this is how it has remained.
The orchard has grown to 150 acres of apples, red raspberries, various nuts, pumpkins, peaches, pears, and plums. Fresh produce, cider and a variety of other items can be bought in our retail store.
Anderson Orchard is owned by Paul and Carolyn Anderson, Robin Anderson, and Iran and Erin Sterling.
Beasley's Orchard and Gardens
2304 East Main Street, Danville, IN
Our History
Beasley's Orchard began in 1946 when Milton and Irene Beasley purchased the farm. They raised livestock (hogs, cattle and chickens) and grain. The family which included three children, Shirley, Sharon and John, also enjoyed gardening and tending a small apple orchard.
One year, an over abundant garden prompted sales out of young John's little red wagon, which was set up next to the nearest road, US 36. Over the years, the family business evolved from that first sale of tomatoes! Crops that are now produced each year for wholesale and retail sales include: Apples, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, Green Beans, Cucumbers, Peppers, Eggplant, Squash, Cantaloupe, Watermelon and Pumpkins. The barn that houses the market was built shortly after the Civil War using classic peg and beam construction. It has been used for every aspect of farming including: hay storage, dairying, pork and poultry production, horses and now a retail market, apple packing and cider mill.
Special features of the farm include the "Heartland Apple Festival" held the first two weekends in October and a U-pick pumpkin patch accessible by hayrides every weekend in October. Customized fruit baskets and shipping boxes are available throughout the holiday season.
