Georgia Theatre
215 North Lumpkin Street, Athens, GA
About Us:
The Georgia Theatre is a prominent music venue in Athens, Georgia, located in an old cinema. Many prominent acts from the early music of Athens, Georgia performed at the Theatre, including a range of folk, popular and country acts.
Home of the Athens YMCA from 1889 until 1919, the original building on this site became a music store, movie house, hotel, Masonic Temple, furniture company and Sears Roebuck store before being replaced by the Elite Theatre in 1935. Except for a brief period as a Methodist church, this theatre – later renamed the Georgia Theatre – has served as a significant performance venue for emerging and established musicians from Athens and beyond. Devastated by a fire on June 19th, 2009, this historic concert hall has been rebuilt as a labor of love with reverence for the creative spirit that Athens has long embraced. With special thanks to the people of Athens and all who worked so diligently to restore her and make her better, the Georgia Theatre stands proudly reborn.”

The Fox Theatre
660 Peachtree Street North East, Atlanta, GA
HIstory:
Atlanta's Fox Theatre, originally the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque, was designed in the late 1920's as headquarters for the 5,000-member Shriners organization.
It was a beautifully outlandish, opulent, grandiose monument to the heady excesses of the pre-crash 1920's, a mosque-like structure complete with minarets, onion domes, and an interior decor which was even more lavish than its facade.
Entering the huge auditorium, an early reviewer for the Atlanta Journal described a picturesque and almost disturbing grandeur beyond imagination. Visitors encounter an indoor Arabian courtyard with a sky full of flickering stars and magically drifting clouds; a spectacular striped canopy overhanging the balcony; stage curtains depicting mosques and Moorish rulers in hand sewn sequins and rhinestones.
The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse
499 Peachtree Street NorthEast, Atlanta, GA
Atlanta Shakespeare Company's Mission
The Atlanta Shakespeare Company is a quest for a living theater, a theater whose "raison d'etre" is the communion of actor, audience, and playwright. To foster that communion, ASC has built the only Original Practice Playhouse, The New American Shakespeare Tavern, at 499 Peachtree Street in Atlanta, GA. Using this space as a laboratory for the exploration of Elizabethan stagecraft and theatrical techniques, all of our work is guided by a single clarion principle that ASC reveres above all others: the voice of the playwright. This is true whether the company is presenting an original piece, an American classic, or a timeless masterpiece by William Shakespeare. In all cases, each production is a process that begins with the way each play was originally staged in its own time and ends with a modern audience experiencing the play in a manner consistent with its creator's original intent.
Thus, when presenting plays by Shakespeare, ASC productions feature hand-made period costumes, all live music and sound effects, thrilling sword fights, and abundant "direct address" to the audience, all of which is orchestrated to assure that the passion and poetry of Shakespeare's genius remains at the heart of the theatrical experience. This is unlike "modern" approaches that routinely update, alter, deconstruct, or otherwise adapt the plays in the supposed service of a 20th Century sensibility.
This Core Aesthetic, known as Original Practice, informs and inspires all of our work.

While at NPC, Tanya decided to start up Lionheart Theatre Company, bringing the arts to the whole of the community.

Due to their hard work and the hard work of other volunteers, past and present, Lionheart is now one of the leading community theatres in all of Gwinnett County.
Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay Theatre
3116 Main Street, Duluth, GA
Eddie Owen Presents is the songwriter’s best friend. It is a music venue, production company, music school, and a home away from home for performing singer-songwriters and their fans. We are based in Duluth, Georgia at Red Clay Theatre – a 257-seat listening room that hosts the most talented musicians on the planet.
Music is a universal language that knows no boundaries. Songwriters and the stories they tell span the bridge of time with melodies and lyrics that speak to all walks of life. These artists weave magic that, nowadays, most people only experience through their play list. However, a renaissance of sorts is taking place in historic Duluth that is adding a progressive dimension to this north metro Atlanta town, drawing people from near and far. This is due in part to the live music setting engineered at Red Clay Theatre (aka RCT), the songwriter’s best friend.
Historic Duluth boasts a Main Street that welcomes visitors with a comforting blend of retro charm and contemporary vibe. With the motto, ‘where everything old is renewed again,’ and a city slogan, ‘pride in old and new,’ you get the sense this community has fully embraced the concept of revitalization. And, in the midst of the tantalizing eateries, quaint shops, the lure of an open-air town green and intriguing mix of arts and entertainment venues sits a treasure – Eddie Owen Presents @ Red Clay Theatre.
At this independent music and songwriter venue, an eclectic group of patrons from around the region routinely gather to relish the raw musical talent on display. Founder Eddie Owen likes to say, “Life is in the song,” and he has a particular talent for spotting emerging artists. After all, he helped superstars John Mayer, the Indigo Girls and Sugarland get their starts by giving them an intimate stage to hone their craft and build a following. His rapport with the grassroots music scene and credibility in the industry is unmatched.
This music destination is a strategically significant piece of the cultural puzzle that is proving to be an economic development success for the second largest and fourth oldest municipality in Gwinnett. In his quiet and humble way, Owen has created a buzz that is reaching demographics that ordinarily would not seek out entertainment in Duluth. He gets credit for putting teeth in a vision that is turning this suburban oasis into a regional music Mecca.
As part of creating a place of music, the basement of the Red Clay Theatre will be utilized to build a school for master classes. The school is slated to open in January of 2013. Tapping into our vast network, we plan to bring in songwriters to act as mentors to up and coming talent.
Eddie Owen Presents also hosts live music events outside of Red Clay Theatre.
