Hudgens Center for Art and Learning
6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, GA
Founded over 35 years ago, we are a non-profit dedicated to spreading the love of art and learning throughout Gwinnett County.
Our facility helps adults and children discover the power of imagination with fine art exhibitions, arts enrichment classes, self-guided tours, and community outreach programs.
What started as kitchen table chit-chat has grown into a dynamic and vibrant force in the community.
Our organization was first incorporated in 1981 as the Gwinnett Council for the Arts. In 1993 the organization moved into its current facility which boasts of 34,000 square feet of exhibition and education space, including the award-winning Al Weeks Sculpture Garden.
After a rebranding in 2016 to emphasize our focus on arts education, today we are known as the Jaqueline Casey Hudgens Center for Art & Learning.
Building on the momentum of our rebrand, we are committed to reinvigorating the imaginations of Gwinnett County.
We are ramping up our community outreach with plans to extend financial aid opportunities for Title 1 schools. We are also working to build more robust partnerships with community non-profits such as Rainbow Village and Hi-Hope.
We will continue to showcase artwork from our permanent collection; collaborate with local and national artists and curators to develop dynamic exhibitions for our galleries; and offer a range of arts enrichment activities in our classrooms.

Gary Grace Bio:
Gary Grace was born in Pittsburgh, PA at a time when Steel town blast furnaces were still ablaze, the scent of coke and soot dominating the city. As a child, he rode his bicycle through busy streets from one corner of the city to the other, exploring fearlessly at such a tender age, the thought would make any mother quiver. It is his quest to blend form with nature and his innate ability to visualize abstract concepts that are the foundation of his highly revered art style “Industrial Abstract.”
Gary attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he majored in fashion illustration and clothing design where he was able to refine his style and learn valuable techniques that he utilizes in his artwork today. He learned to work with Chalks, Crayons, Rapidograph Pens, Inks, and Watercolors and was cross enrolled in Clarissa School of Fashion Design where he learned to make patterns and sew. He made the dean’s list three times and was featured in showcases for his work with ebony pencils, ink, and technical pens. Gary is the founder of the clothing line “Posse,” which went national in the 1980s.
Abstract Oil is the medium that Gary loves and is the most well-known for, however, he is a very well rounded artist, his travels have brought him an affinity for landscape photography and he has written and Illustrated a published children’s book, “Sasha, I Can’t Find My Bicycle.” Gary is currently working on two adventure novels’, “45” and “Throwbacks,” he is a songwriter and has been playing the drums since age 11. Around Back At Rocky's Place
3631 Hwy 53 East at Etowah River Road, Dawsonville, GA
After losing our beloved five-pound Pekingese, Rocky, Around Back at Rocky's Place began from a vision dreamed by owner Tracey Burnette. The gallery originated in a tool shed that is located around the back of the house. To honor our canine companion, Around Back at Rocky's Place was born.
Both Blan and Burnette first began collecting pottery some thirty years ago, which then led to collecting paintings and other mediums. From this hobby sprang the gallery in 2002 with 24 artists. Over the years, we have grown to a second building with approximately 300 self-taught painters, potters, wood carvers, metal sculptors, and fabric artists. To see all of our artists and their work, visit our gallery in person or online!
