The 9 Best Smoothies in Vermont!
Smoothies—a delicious sweet drink that you don’t have to feel totally guilty about. Whether you like mango and strawberry varieties or a green smoothie to power you through the day, these spots in Vermont have an abundance of excellent options. Here are our favorites.
Healthy Living Market and Cafe, South Burlington, VT
Established in 1986, this is Vermont's self-proclaimed largest organic foods market. For over 30 years, they have been stocking their shelves with local, organic, natural, and minimally processed foods. Check out their juice and espresso bar for 100 percent organic juices and smoothies made to order and coffee offerings made with locally-roasted fair-trade coffee beans. Create your own smoothie or order off the menu. Our favorite is the “Road to Hana: Apple Juice, Pineapple, Ginger, Banana.”
Green Goddess Cafe, Stowe, VT
With lightning-fast service and a menu that features local fresh fare, this family-owned and operated (by Tim Callahan & Athena Scheidet) spot offers a hash and eggs breakfast sandwich that you will swear was made in heaven. Also, the handful of smoothies that are offered here are fresh and, including the “Jolly Green,” a bright (almost neon) green concoction of orange juice, avocado, spinach, and CBD. Any substance containing more than .3 percent THC is illegal to sell or possess in Vermont, but CBD is permitted.
The Vermont Juice Company, Burlington, VT
Opened in 2014, the Vermont Juice Company claims to be “The first and only fresh, raw, cold-pressed juice shop in Burlington, and they feature local, organic juices, and juice cleanses. Plus, try their “Superfood Bowls,” like the acai bowl and the “Pitaya (dragon fruit) Bowl” today. Then, treat yourself to a fresh omega maple smoothie with cashews, VT maple syrup, vanilla bean, cinnamon, nutmeg, water, and water.
Tomgirl Juice Co., Burlington, VT
What does aloe, photography, and tomato juice have in common? They have all played a part in creating potable sunshine. Established in 2009 by former French pastry chef, chocolatier, and fine art photographer, Gabrielle Kammerer, Tomgirl Juice Co. is about batching color, flavor, and nutrition. Featuring soup, a lunch and dinner menu, and a strawberry grapefruit smoothie that will knock your socks off, Tomgirl embodies the science behind food essence.
The Works, Brattleboro and Manchester Center, VT
The first Works Bakery Cafe was the brainchild of UVM graduates, Garrett Mead, Jen Pearl, Richard French, and John Carlin. Established in 1988, this now chain with eight locations, had its humble beginnings in the same town as Jake Burton. The founding principal of the bagel business were simple—"eat well, feel good”—and the Works made every attempt to keep ingredients local and sustainable, while utilizing other recyclable products. In addition to bagels and sandwiches, the Works boasts a comprehensive juice and smoothie bar.
