Zollinger Fruit and Tree Farm
1000 River Heights Boulevard, Logan, UT
About Us:
This farm has been owned and operated by the Zollinger family for over 100 years. William Zollinger purchased the land in 1904 and planted one of the first commercial fruit orchards in Cache Valley. Since that time it has grown to be the largest horticulture business in Cache County,(Now known as Zollinger fruit and Tree Farm.) The diversity of products has grown to include over 80 varieties of ornamental and fruit trees as well as a wide variety of shrubs and perennials. In the fall, apples are still harvested and sold to a local fresh market. Many of the 13 apple varieties are blended to make the Apple Cider which the Zollinger family is so well known for.
In 2004 Zollinger Fruit and Tree Farm was awarded Century Farm status and in 2006 this historic farm was placed under the protection of a State held conservation easement. Future generations will now benefit from their products and open space.

Tagge's Famous Fruit and Veggie Farms
3431 South Highway 89, Perry, UT
About Us:
As a boy, Thayne Tagge would come to Bear Lake to water-ski with his family each summer. He knew how wonderful the Bear Lake Raspberries were and decided one summer to bring some to Salt Lake to sell.
He was dating Cari at the time and she had just gotten back from Israel study abroad. He suggested she bring down some raspberries too. The Bear Lake Raspberry season would last only 2 to 3 weeks each August. In 1982 Thayne would go up each morning and pick up 50 cases of raspberries and sell them in sugarhouse.
Cari was not a morning person and would go up to Bear Lake each night and sleep in her mom's station wagon. She would bring down 50 cases of raspberries to the old 7-11 in Holladay (now Great Harvest Bread). They would back up their cars, open the trunks and put up banner paper that would read Fresh Bear Lake Raspberries.
Now that the Tagge's had all this fruit being grown Cari had to add more fruit stands. In 1998 Bear Lake Raspberries were struggling because of a plant virus, so the Tagges bought 10 more acres across the street in Perry to grow raspberries and blackberries.
In 2003 Thayne purchased the 30-acre Perry family farm in Willard. The Perry family wanted to sell it to someone who would use it to farm and not build houses. Since then the Tagges have planted over 2500 trees on that property.
The Tagge's fruit stands have gone through many changes throughout the years. We used to be able to pull up to a location without a business license and sell. We have hired many teenagers, college students, and moms to help us sell each summer. Our season went from three weeks each summer to a hectic four months of selling. Thayne knows how to fix tractors, prune, thin, fertilize and this summer just put in a drip irrigation system on 28 acres of our land.
Learning to farm has been bittersweet. It is a Lot of Work. Thayne and Cari work around 80 hours each week during the harvest. Thayne has to water in the middle of the night and load trucks at 3:30 some mornings. We plant seeds in our green house in March and then plant over 12,000 tomato plants and other row crops in May. But the joy of farming, to Thayne, is working the land. He loves working hard and literally seeing the fruits of his labor. He will call Cari at dusk while he is cultivating and tell her how beautiful Willard Bay is when the sun is setting. They both have a crazy work ethic and are proud that all four of their children know how to work hard and will finish the job no matter how dirty or how long it takes.
A family business is fun, but sometimes you are together too much and take your pressure out on each other. Our children are amazing, and help us do what ever is needed. It has been so rewarding to grow our own produce and have our customers appreciate the work that we do. We have many loyal customers that have bought from us for the last 25 years. We are proud to be a first generation farming family.

Allred Orchards
2109 North University Avenue, Provo, UT
It must be in the genes, this “love of growing things.” Or, is it passed from one generation to another because of a loving example seen by those who come later? Whatever the reason, there has been and continues to be a love of the soil, of the things that grow in it and are harvested from it, in the family of Rey Allred.
Rey grew up on the farm his father and grandfather established in 1926 on University Avenue in Provo. The original barn built in 1893 still exists today as a retail outlet for their peaches, nectarines, apples and dried cherries.
In 1957 Rey and is father, Bliss, purchased a farm in Payson and began to plant peaches, apples, sweet and tart cherries. That year Rey graduated from BYU with a degree in horticulture and has spent his time fulfilling his dream of growing the best fruit possible.
If Rey had time and the inclination to have a hobby, it would be doing what he is doing on the farm and with the people in the fruit industry. He is always looking for new ways to do things: new varieties to plant, new rootstocks for plantings, new machinery to plant, spray, transport, prune and harvest the fruit, new spacing’s for trees, new trellis systems to train the trees on, new irrigation systems, and anything else that he can think of. In short, he had never stopped learning how to do his job better. He has never stopped teaching those around him what he has learned, and his excitement and enthusiasm continue to inspire those around him.
Rey and his wife, Mary Carol have passed on this “love of growing things” to their children and grandchildren and they are finding that same enjoyment in working with the creator to beautify and make productive this earth we live on.

McMullin Orchards

Our History
Robert W. McMullin came from southern Utah in about 1918 to teach school in Nephi, Utah. He continued to pursue his interest in law and in 1921 he passed the Utah State Bar and became a licensed attorney. He moved to Payson in 1921 and was appointed Payson City attorney in 1922.
During the time he was involved in the law profession, his true interests were still with his roots in agriculture. He purchased some land in the valley west of Payson in an area called Genola. In 1925 he began to clear the land of sagebrush to plant crops. The area was best suited for fruit production. He planted the first commercial orchard in 1927. The first orchard consisted mainly of sweet cherries and peaches. He later added tart cherries, pears, and apples.
As time went on, he added more and more acreage to the operation. During the Great Depression, he purchased land west of Payson in the West Mountain area where the current packing plant and main offices are located. The story goes that some of the land was traded for a herd of sheep. Times were tough during the Depression and R. W., as he was called, continued to add land to the operation.During World War II, Dave, R. W.'s son ran the farms and raised fruit as well as grain for the war effort. They did quite well during these times. Dave would go to school during the winters at Utah State University. He was able to enter law school in 1948 at the University of Utah where he graduated in 1951.Dave continued to practice law as well as farm. He leased the wheat ground and pursued his interests in the fruit. During this time he was continually adding more land to the farm. He was not always farming all of the land himself but had the future in mind.He enjoyed traveling finding and planting new varieties. He planted 30 acres in Genola in 1969 with the Yakima Hale Peaches. This was the first commercial orchard of this variety in this area. The fruit production and processing has now passed to the third generation of the McMullin family.
The current operation is headed by Robert McMullin, R. W.'s grandson. He is assisted in the operation of the processing plant and the orchards by his sister, Ann McMullin Dockstader, and his two brothers, David and William. The fourth generation of the family is now also becoming involved in the operation of McMullin Orchards.

Rowley's Red Barn
901 South 300 West, Santaquin, UT
About Us:
Fruit growing has been a tradition in the Rowley family for generations. Four to be exact. In the heart of Santaquin, what began as a small fruit stand is now the Red Barn, a landmark on I-15 that begins the journey to southern Utah.
Even though we've grown since our humble beginnings, we have always taken pride in the quality of our fruit and other homemade products. And that's never changed throughout the years.
Although our largest crop is tart cherries, we also grow a variety of apples and peaches, along with pumpkins, pears, and many other specialty crops which can be purchased fresh at the barn. Our Red Barn Cider Mill juice can also be purchased at grocery stores throughout Utah.
We love working with Mother Nature, but sometimes she can be unpredictable. As the years went by we realized we could do more to sustain ourselves when the crops don't come. We've grown through the years and now make farm fresh products people know and love. From fresh pressed apple cider, to jams, syrups, salsas and more, all are made right here on the farm with our own family recipes.
And for those with a sweet tooth, nothing beats our homemade ice cream, fruit pies, fruit shakes, cookies, fudge, chocolate coated dried fruit, old fashioned soda fountain, and other handmade delicacies.
All business aside, our most important crop is our family and friends that have come together to make our business a success. There is always something new going on at the barn, so stop in on the web or in person and enjoy some of the fruits of our farm!
Mountainland Apples
800 South 300 West, Santaquin, UT
Mountainland Apples was formed in 1983 by a group of farmers looking for the best opportunity to pack and market the high quality and flavorful fruit grown in the valleys of Utah’s Wasatch mountains. This cooperative of growers has continued to grow and expand and we now have growing and packing operations in Caldwell, Idaho. The Caldwell, Idaho region provides similar growing conditions as our Utah locations with a slightly longer growing season. The longer season gives us options to add more varieties of fruit to grow and market to our valuable customers.
Our growers have been in this business for many generations and we look forward to growing the best fruit available for generations to come.
