Wineries Vineyards Near Me in Townville
Lazy Bear Winery
644 Hester Store Rd, Easley, SC
We are retired Air Force, having served 20+ years for our Country. Our travels took us all over the US and Europe. We were stationed in Germany for 4 years, where we really learned to appreciate wine. Who knew 12 years later we would be making our own wine and open a winery. We retired from Charleston AFB, Charleston SC and moved to the Upstate near Greenville in 2006. In 2011 we started making wine with the blueberries we grow on our property. We planted strawberries, raspberries, cherries, peaches, and then added bees to make mead. As you can tell, we specialize in fruit and berry wines. The only grape wine we make is the Muscadine... I mean, we do live in the South and they are the traditional southern grape.
Our wine mentor said our wines were really good and suggested we enter them in competitions. Our first competition was Southeast Regionals where we won a Gold Medal for our Strawberry, Silver for our Peach Berry Medley, and Bronze for our Blueberry. We went on to enter the American Wine Society National Competition and won 2 Bronze medals, one of which was for our Honey Mead. Thinking we were onto something, we dared to enter the Wine Magazine International Competition where we won 2 bronze medals. The following year, after a lot of "tweaking" and new experiments, we won numerous medals to include 2 International GOLD medals. To date, we have 30+ medals and continually strive to improve our wines. We started teaching wine classes in 2014 at Grape & Grains in Greenville SC, not only to share our wines and experiences, but to learn different techniques from others in the class. You can never learn too much about wine making.
In 2015, we decided to "go for it" and open Lazy Bear Winery. After, literally, 1-year of painstaking Federal and State Forms and Applications, label approvals, construction and building inspections, we finally received our Bonded Winery License from ATF/TTB and our Domestic Winery License from SC State. Our son came up with the winery name, initial logo, and new recipes; our oldest daughter designed our logo, wine bottle labels, and website; and our youngest daughter helps us with entering wine competitions and wine tasting events. Even though our children are in different states—except for our son—we are a humble loving family and I appreciate everything they do to make this venture enjoyable for us and our customers.
Our winery is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on our property where we live in Dacusville, SC. We converted our 1,200 square foot shop into the winery. We are a small winery compared to the "Big Boys", but as mentioned earlier we are a start-up winery and live a very humble life. We grow about 20% of our fruits & berries on our 2.5 acre site and supplement our needs from local farmers here in the Upstate. We continue to expand our crops as our operation grows. We enjoy being outdoors planting, trimming, pruning, picking, and drinking the "Fruits of our Labor".

The Vineyard:
Our small unpretentious winery consists of the South Vineyard, the Terrace Vineyard, and the Carriage House Vineyard. We also source grapes, berries, and peaches from nearby growers.
From Vine to Wine:
We opened July 4, 2018. We are what the French call "garagistes", small-scale craft vintners. We make wine because we love doing so in the old-school fashion of our Italian ancestors.
Our Wines:
Our wines follow our "terroir", the nature of our upstate land in the Blue Ridge Foothills of western South Carolina. We grow select French-American hybrid and native American grapes.

Deep Water Vineyard
6775 Bears Bluff Rd, Wadmalaw Island, SC
Jesse and Andrea are transplants to the south, but don't let that fool you. They both embrace the hospitality and southern charm that embodies the mystique of Lowcountry living. In 2012, after having enough snow to last them several lifetimes, they began a search for somewhere that they could raise their three young boys with adventure, intrigue, and purpose. The search was over when they visited South Carolina. Two years after moving south they were dared by some friends to inquire about Irvin-House Vineyard. The rest, as they say, is history. Jesse and Andrea feel incredibly blessed to steward this property and we hope everyone who has the opportunity to visit us feels the special vibes that drew us here and continue to speak to all who visit our little slice of heaven.
The Vineyard:
Jim and Ann Irvin were instrumental in transitioning their retirement dream into our lifelong dream, and we will forever be grateful. Nestled among the majestic live oaks on Charleston's back porch of Wadmalaw Island, this 48-acre winery and vineyard has something for everyone. We are the only domestic winery in Charleston, South Carolina and should be on the top of your list when visiting the Lowcountry.
A local and visitor favorite, we grow and harvest the grapes as well as make and bottle our wines all on site. You'll find us about 30 minutes south of Charleston, on the sleepy island of Wadmalaw. Our vineyard offers plenty of room to roam, many animals to get to know, a garden, a large pond, the winery (of course), and our charming little gift shop. Prepare to spend a few hours, or a full day enjoying a walk through the vines; or take advantage of our affordable and informative wine tastings. Whether you're a large group or intimate couple, the vineyard has plenty of things to do.
While we have a food truck every Saturday and offer cheese, meat, and fruit plates during the week we also encourage families to bring picnics along with blankets and chairs so you can sit back and truly relax. Animals are allowed to visit us as long as they are leashed. We're open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Wine:
Deep Water is a name with many meanings, first and foremost you'll hear the term deep water in the Lowcountry as coveted access beyond the pluff mud of the marsh. We also, honestly, as owners of a winery feel a little bit overwhelmed so you could say we're in deep water.
But really, if you pressed Jesse or Andrea, they would say that the name "Deep Water" embodies their view of this short life. That we are not meant to wade in the shallows of the shore, but are meant to dive deep and maybe feel the weight of water over your head and depth of water beneath your feet, but ultimately know you've tried something bigger than yourselves - and, if you're truly fortunate, float satisfactorily on top of the deep for awhile.
The wine itself is one of the only truly native grapes to the US, and we embrace it. Remaining true to our predecessors Southern roots, we grow muscadine grapes, a fruit native to the Southeastern United States. We produce authentic muscadine wine, five different labels from four varieties of grapes. Beyond the muscadine and scuppernong wines we make from our vineyard we also partner with a grower in the Lodi Valley of California to bring in a wide range of varietals that we cannot grow here in the south. Rest assured, whether you enjoy reds, whites, rosés, sparkling, still, sweet, dry, spicy (yep!)...we've got an option for you. We also have an ever-growing selection of meads (honey wine) that allows us to take full advantage of our honeybee hives and the sweet product they bless us with each season.
Hyman Vineyards - Conway
6130 Juniper Bay Rd., Conway, SC
Mission:
Our mission is to formulate and produce botanically-based products, including the creation of natural products which are composed of plant extracts that are beneficial to human health and well-being. Our small, research-based muscadine farm vineyard serves as a support model for 21st century agricultural practices in South Carolina.
About Us:
Hyman Farms, Inc. is a South Carolina Agri-business specializing in growing and processing botanical based raw materials for the development of nutraceutical and cosmaceutical products. Every botanical grown has special attention paid to the research and development of each aspect of the botanical. By doing so, we take the steps necessary to create quality life enhancing products which inherently promote healthy lifestyles.
The heritage of Hyman Farms dates back to the late 1800s where members of the Hyman Family have been farming a variety of crops in the Pee Dee area of Eastern South Carolina for five generations. With a shift from traditional farming to the 21st Century farming, Hyman Vineyards was created and since has become the main focus. The Hyman Family planted a muscadine vineyard just outside Conway, South Carolina, where they grow naturally sweet muscadine grapes for both medicinal and consumption purposes. The muscadine grapes have been around the rich, fertile soils of the South Carolina Pee Dee Coastal Plain for thousands of years and will continue to be here for the benefit of future generations.
Hyman Vineyards continually seeks to farm and grow botanicals which not only have the ability to enrich your health, but also enrich your lifestyle.
La Belle Amie Vineyard Festival Concerts
1120 Saint Joseph Road, Little River, SC
Open: Year-Round
La Belle Amie Vineyard is owned and operated by Vicki. The wine and gift shop was built in 1999, in part from trees removed from the building site. But the effort to build La Belle Amie Vineyard began years prior to the opening of its wine and gift shop in early 2000.......
Family wine making began with Vicki's ancestors from the south of France and was passed down to their Uncle Gifford, who continued the tradition. Every year Uncle Gifford made wine from "the old grapevines." "The old grapevines" still thrive today and consist of four large vine arbors-two of the vines are over 100 years old and the other two are about 80 years old. The grapes from these vines are used to make the grape preserves sold at the shop.
