Eisenhower Marathon, Abilene, KS
Runners from across Kansas, the United States and a sprinkling of foreign countries will start and end the Eisenhower Marathon at the Old Abilene Town. This race is a Boston Marathon qualifying race. Shorter races offered are a10K, a 5K and a “community” walk. All races are held on a paved course, which challenges its runners through parts of the historic Chisolm Trail.
Dexter BBQ & Fun Run, Dexter, KS
Come for the run and stay for the barbecue. The annual Dexter BBQ 5 K Run and two-mile walk is held in Dexter. The race’s course is on paved streets and will finish in downtown Dexter. There is a little bit of flavor for everyone.
Garmin Marathon: In the Land of Oz, Olathe, KS
The Garmin Marathon is held in April in the city of Olathe. Races include a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K and kids run, which begins and finishes near the Olathe Conference Center and Embassy Suites Hotel. The Land of OZ race attracts thousands of runners from across Kansas, the nation and several foreign countries and is put on by the Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The Gobbler Grind Full Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K, Olathe, KS
A chilling, thrilling race in the fall is the Gobbler Grind. Traditionally held before the Thanksgiving holiday each year, this race is a Boston Qualifier race and a USATF certified course. This race has become a Kansas City tradition and has been rocking for over two decades. Open to all ages and all skill levels and everyone who enjoys running on a crisp fall day in Kansas.
