Shihata’s Orchard, Prairie du Chien, WI

Shihata’s Orchard, near the Mississippi River Valley town of Prairie du Chien, offers more than a dozen varieties of apples that you can pick yourself. Kids will love the Country Fun Park and the pumpkin patch, and everyone will enjoy the wagon rides. Be sure to grab some goodies from the Apple House Retail Store.

Sacia Orchards, Galesville, WI

Sacia Orchards has been growing apples in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region for more than a century, making it the state’s oldest apple orchard. In addition to the many you-pick varieties in the orchard, you’ll find all sorts of treats at the Apple Market and Bakery.

Apple Barn Orchard and Winery, Elkhorn, WI

Folks in the Elkhorn area love to spend their fall weekends among the trees at Apple Barn Orchard and Winery. The orchard boasts 13 varieties that fruit throughout the picking season. The Country Store and Bakery is a great place to find some tasty morsels to bring home with you. Why not sample the winery’s award-winning fruit wines while there?

Peck & Bushel Fruit Company, Colgate, WI

You know you made the right choice when you choose to pick your apples at a place called Peck and Bushel Fruit Company. Almost 20 varieties of apples grace the limbs of this Colgate-area orchard. All of the varieties are certified organic and grown with care—be sure to check and see which varieties are available for picking before you go. 

Ecker’s Apple Farm, Trempealeau, WI

After picking a peck at Ecker’s Apple Farm, you may find it hard to leave. Twenty varieties of apples, fall peaches, an autumn Hootenanny, the Orchard Market, and a beer garden—Hog’s Back Brew Farm—all ensure that you will be entertained and sated when you visit Ecker’s. 

Oneida Nation Apple Orchard, Hobart, WI

As part of a program for reacquiring lands that once fell within the original boundaries of its reservation, the Oneida Nation purchased a 2,400-acre apple orchard in 1994. Now, you can choose from among 20 varieties of apples, which you can pick yourself. Join the orchard for its annual Big Apple Fest and visit the orchard store for fresh apple products and other produce.

Barthel Fruit Farm, Mequon, WI

"Growing fruit since 1840." That's how long Barthel Fruit Farm has been serving its community with fresh produce. Barthel is a fantastic place to get apples with varieties including cortland, gala, honeycrisp, ida red, golden delicious, and so many more. Do not, we repeat, do not leave without picking up a box of doughnuts. They're to die for! 

Bauer’s Apple Shed, Hortonville, WI

Just outside of the aptly-named city of Appleton, Bauer’s Apple Shed offers a rustic, old-school apple-picking experience in east-central Wisconsin. With several varieties from which to choose in their gorgeous orchards, as well as pumpkins, gourds and retail goodies, Bauer’s Apple Shed offers some of the most pleasant picking around.

Sutter’s Ridge Farm, Mt. Horeb, WI

A visit to Sutter’s Ridge Farm is much more than an apple picking excursion. Yes, you can pick your own apples—more than two dozen varieties ripen throughout the season—but there’s much more to do! You can pick pumpkins, raspberries or grapes, too. Grab a snack at the Apple Cabin, get lost in the Corn Maze, or enjoy the Activity Area.
