9 Best Brunch Spots in Virginia!

va brunch spot

While some people might say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, Virginians believe brunch is actually number one. Throughout the Commonwealth, you’ll find a vast array of distinctly appetizing restaurants offering a diverse range of brunch options inspired by the large amount of international cuisine present. Below you’ll find 9 of our absolute favorites.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar, Arlington and Virginia Beach, VA

Tupelo Honey is a down-home, feel-good southern restaurant with rich food, free biscuits, and delicious frozen Orange Crushes. The two locations in Virginia, in Virginia Beach and Arlington, are decorated with fun, warm honeycombs and southern-inspired décor. The menu is subject to change based on available fresh ingredients. Saturday and Sunday are brunch days. The Blueberry Challah French Toast, Shoo Mercy Omelet, and avocado toast and eggs are all incredible winners. Take note: you may be full for days.

Venture, Hampton, VA

Sunday brunch at Venture in Hampton, Virginia, is unique in that half of the menu is constantly changing. Every week, dishes rotate in and out based on freshness. According to Venture’s website, you can reliably count on country ham biscuits and gravy and a breakfast pizza, but might have to check back a few times to try their Short Rib S.O.S., brioche doughnuts, smoked salmon benedict, shrimp-n-grits, and other Venture twists on brunch classics. All are delicious.

Ambar, Arlington, VA

Ambar, the first restaurant of its kind featured in the lauded Michelin Guide, cooks up authentic Balkan food for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The “Balkan Experience” buffet includes unlimited plates, such as traditional Balkan dishes as well as more Americanized options.

Bazin’s on Church, Vienna, VA

Bazin’s on Church in Vienna, Virginia, is an up-scale, American restaurant with decadent brunch dishes. Chicken and waffles, short rib hash, bananas foster French toast… it’s all here. While the décor is somewhat classier than most, the dishes are quite affordable. Try a Dirty Mary with blue cheese olive cocktail.

Mason-Dixon Café, Fredericksburg, VA

Mason-Dixon Café in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is a traditionally styled American diner offering breakfast all day, a full bar, and weekly specials. While the breakfast menu is available anytime, the brunch menu is limited to Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Try the stuffed veggie omelet for a healthy option, or the Big Breakfast Bowl, which includes fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and scrambled eggs, if calories aren’t a problem.

Breadcraft Bakery, Roanoke, VA

If you’re a bread lover, then you must visit Breadcraft in Roanoke, Virginia. Between the chocolate French toast, veggie scramble, and chorizo skillet (with Spanish sausage, peppers, onions, and potatoes topped with fried eggs), you may never leave. The soups, salads, and sandwiches are well worth the trip, too, especially the smoked salmon sandwich. Order a few pastries for the ride home.

Sandfiddler Café, Norfolk, VA

Sandfiddler Café is a Norfolk staple. The locale may be unassuming and the interior cozy, but the food speaks for itself. The extensive menu includes brunch staples like French toast, Belgian waffles, eggs benedict, and over fifteen omelets. The Fiddler Favorites, however, are even better. Hamburger Scramble, a dish served with a burger patty, three eggs, onion, and hash browns scrambled and topped with cheese, plus a side item, is southern, home cooking decadence at its finest.

The Butcher’s Son Chop House, Chesapeake, VA

The Butcher’s Son is a chop house in Chesapeake, Virginia, dedicated to serving antibiotic free, hormone free, locally harvested, and humanely treated meat for lunch, brunch, and dinner.

Le Yaca, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, VA

Le Yaca brings French cuisine and refinement to the fine folks of Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Since 1980, Le Yaca has taken the French flavors from its original home in Le Praz, France. Start with a chocolate croissant before moving into a choice of soup or salad before a choice between French dishes like Le Homard (Maine lobster tail) and L’Agneau and dessert.
