Teen Workshop: The Mermaid Incident

It’s 1867, the Civil War has ended and a mermaid is living in Charleston. Hear the tale of Charleston’s mermaid and the riots her captivity caused. Were the riots really caused by mermaid magic or was there something more human at play? Become history-investigators as you attempt to uncover what really happened in 1867. Specially geared for teens, our Teen Workshops offer an opportunity to engage with a variety of topics including history, the natural world, and STEAM principles. Workshops include a lesson or guided tour and hands-on activities. For ages 13 to 17. Adults not required to stay. Reservations required.
