Punch Needle Trivet Workshop with Local Artist Daisy McCellan
Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 01:00pm to 03:30pm
The Charleston Museum
360 Meeting Street
Join local artist Daisy McClellan Sunday November 17th from 1:00 - 3:30 pm at the Charleston Museum for a special punch needle trivet workshop. Taking inspiration across the street from the Joesph Manigault House, students will have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the house before the workshop (admission to the Joseph Manigault House is included with registration fee). Back at the museum you’ll take all that inspiration and create a punch needle trivet perfect for your holiday table.
Daisy will teach you everything you need to know about this traditional rug making technique while giving it a modern and playful twist. Participants will learn about the best supplies to get started, how to thread a punch needle, stretch a frame, draw your own design to fabric, how to punch, as well as how to finish your piece with a whip stitch making it reversible and functional. Your piece can serve as a trivet, pot holder, coaster and more. No experience required however this is also a great class to build on if you have taken a previous punch needle class with Daisy.*
This class includes the below materials needed during the workshop and are yours to take home with you:
- #10 Regular Oxford Punch Needle*
- Premium wool rug yarn (in various colors)
- Monk’s Cloth Backing Fabric
- Morgan Non-Slip Hoop
- Metal Snips
- Water Soluble Marker
- A guide to get you started on your punch needle journey
*Have you taken a punch needle with Daisy previously and do you already own a #10 regular oxford punch needle? If so you can take $15 off your ticket. Just remember to bring your punch needle with you. Please note it must be a #10 regular oxford punch needle and not any other size, type, or brand.
Reservations required. Registration fee includes instruction, all materials, and admission to the Joseph Manigault House.
Classes with insufficient enrollment may be cancelled. Students will be notified in advance and full refunds or the opportunity to transfer to another workshop will be offered. Student cancellations must be requested 48 hours in advance for a refund minus $10 administration fee. Full registration fee may be transferred to a future workshop or other adult program. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will result in a forfeiture of workshop fee.
