Get whisked away by this invigorating program of time-honored and lesser-known works, conducted by Music Director Jonathon Heyward. Treat your senses to Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw’s plaintive and undulating Entr’acte before diving into Vaughan Williams’ lyrical Oboe Concerto with featured soloist Ryan Roberts, principal oboist of the Festival Orchestra. Discover the music of Marianna Martines with a rare performance of her delightful Symphony in C Major—the only surviving symphony from this Mozart contemporary—and conclude your evening by venturing to Italy with Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony, which uses rhythms of Neapolitan dances to evoke its sights and sounds.
Location: Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall
