This bar has got game. With multiple TVs on the every wall, there isn’t a bad seat in the house to see your favorite sports team. If you come here, your preferred team better be the New Mexico State University Aggies. The interior is covered in crimson and white memorabilia. The bar is well-stocked and has 42 beers on tap. Food is first-rate bar food. Friday nights sit on the patio and listen to live music from local bands.
Billy the Kid Casino, Ruidoso, NM
Hands down, this is a fun place to eat, drink and hang out. Located at Ruidoso Downs, the local race track, the sport of choice is horse racing for both thorough-breds and quarter horses. If betting on the ponies isn’t your thing, there are 10 TVs scattered around the restaurant showcasing other sports. Specials include Bottomless Pizza Night, Prime Rib Special Dinner and Karoake on Fridays.
Thunderbird Bar & Grill, Santa Fe, NM
Sitting at the bar gives you a bird’s eye view of your favorite sports teams on the overhead TVs. There isn’t a bad seat in the dining area either for sports enthusi-asts, however, just don’t drive the neighbors away. The food is a mix of Mexican and American favorites, like Frito pie and chicken fajitas, or burgers and sand-wiches. Get your beer by the pint or pitcher. A wide-ranging selection of tequilas is the base for their refreshing specialty drinks.
Sammy C’s Rock n’ Sports Pub & Grille, Gallup, NM
Sammy’s bills itself as “Thee” Gem of Gallup. It’s chockfull of sports and music memorabilia, 30 flat screen TVs and one 90-inch projector screen. You’ll feel like you’re sitting court side at your favorite NBA game. It was named one of the “Best Sports Bars in the U.S.”… the only one in New Mexico. The food highlights southwestern flavors with red and green chile, but there’s also burgers, hot dogs, fish and chips, steaks, salads, homemade pizza and pasta. Watch March Madness. Have a Super Bowl Party. Or just play some pool or sing karaoke.
Zeb’s Restaurant & Bar, Angel Fire, NM
A place where the locals hang out generally means it’s worth a try. Zeb’s is worth a try. There isn’t a bank of TVs on the walls, but there’s still just enough happening on the few tubes to give it the title of a sports bar. The food runs the gamut from burgers and sandwiches to barbecue, salads, steaks and Mexican specialties. Nightly specials Monday through Thursday. Live bands on the weekend.
Boxcar, Santa Fe, NM
You can spend the day here. It’s just that kind of place. With numerous huge TVs perfectly positioned to view sporting events from any vantage point, you’d be hard pressed to find a better sports bar. Since they carry the NFL Sunday ticket, you won’t miss your favorite team’s game. Of course, there’s more than just football available, just ask. You can even call ahead and request to watch a particular game—they’ll even open early if necessary. The large and eclectic menu has options that’ll take you through the day.
Dick’s Restaurant, Las Vegas, NM
Sandwiched between the restaurant and the pub is this small bar with big TVs. Dick’s has been a favorite spot for locals since 1940. About 30 years ago, new owners updated the look and feel and brightened the menu. The fully-stocked bar has multiple beers on tap, plus well drinks and fruity favorites. The food is typical pub fare done really well. Multiple sporting events on TV at any given time bring fans of all kinds together.
Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery, Silver City, NM
This is a casual place where you can relax, have a beer and watch your favorite team on any number of big screen TVs. You’ll find only New Mexican beer served here, both in the bottle and on tap. Much of the beer is handcrafted at the owner’s distillery. If you’re not a beer drinker, they also make vodka, rum and whiskey. The menu boasts pub food with a twist. Come for the food and drink and stay for the game of your choice.

Not a fancy place, but Howie’s is sure a fun place! On any given day at any given time you can watch all major sports packages including the NFL, NCAA, MLB, NHL or NBA, as well as college games and hard-to-find events, too on the half-dozen TVs on the walls. There’s a mellow vibe created predominately by the locals who congregate here, but visitors blend right in. Specials on drinks every night. The menu, although not huge, does include some fried bar food favorites like Cajun hot wings, French fries and mini corn dogs.
