When the weather doesn’t cooperate and you have a child that’s filled with energy, Michigan’s play centers have you covered. From treehouses in Chelsea to indoor water parks in Boyne Falls, there’s a place for your little one’s imagination to run free. Here are our favorite kids’ play centers in the state!

The Chelsea Treehouse, Chelsea, MI

The Chelsea Treehouse, found not surprisingly in Chelsea, has taken home some impressive awards to its credit, including, Ann Arbor Family, and even Nickelodeon. With a massive play structure, five different slides, and the eponymous tree house all on tap, it's clear that even the most active and rambunctious of youth will do well here. There's even a meal service available, which boasts absolutely nothing fried.

Jungle Joe's Family Fun Center, Portage, MI

Portage is home to Jungle Joe's Family Fun Center, a place that seems to specialize in active kids. It's the largest indoor inflatable park in the area, housed in its own massive steel building. An array of inflatables, a fairly substantial arcade, and a range of food options round out the presentation here, offering a little something for just about everybody.

Holland Playland, Holland, MI

Part of the Central Wesleyan Church in Holland, the Holland Playland has an unusual approach to things. It's got a lot of the indoor play structures that kids love, and you'll be able to get in here at some odd times. It's closed Thursdays and Sundays, but the rest of the week it's open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., except for Tuesday. Tuesday is 3-7. It's also completely free of charge, so for those who want to “meet and do life together,” as the Holland Playland staff puts it, you'll have one great option right here.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark, Boyne Falls, MI

Avalanche Bay is actually Michigan's largest indoor waterpark, which makes it an exciting destination at just about any time of year. If you go in winter, you'll enjoy the unique and thrilling dichotomy of a water slide in January. With 88,000 square-feet of rides and slides, as well as pools, hot tubs, an arcade, and even an arts-and-crafts operation, you'll have no shortage of things to do herein.
