Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort
Powder Ridge History
Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort has a storied history since first opening around 1959, and top-to-bottom skiing starting during the 1962 winter season. Chairlifts were added in the 1960s, and with the completion of Interstate 91 through Connecticut, more skiers than ever had easy access to one of the most popular ski mountains in the area.
In 1970 a three-day rock festival – one year after Woodstock – was scheduled, only to be cancelled by local officials less than five days prior to the summer event.
Also in the early 70s, Powder Hill – as it was known back then – installed and operated the only four-person chair lift in New England.
