Monday August 5, 7:00 PM (inside)WIMF - BLESS THIS HOUSE Twenty years after the Washington Island Music Festival's first concert at the brand new TPAC. The chorus The Festival Chorus returns in May Brahe’s, “Bless This House”, performed that night in 2004. Works by Hayden, Morris, Wilson and Brahms will delight the audience during the celebratory concert. Pre concert talk is at 6:45.
Thursday August 8, 7:00 PM (inside)WIMF - WATERCOLORS AND WARMTH The festival mixes the cool palette of Philippe Gaubert’s Aquarelles (watercolors) with the warmth of Mozart's last String Quintet and the romance of Herzogenberg’s quintet for piano and winds. Preconcert talk is at 6:45.
Sunday August 11, 4:30 PM (outside) WIMF – WE ARE CONTENT Join us on the TPAC patio, (weather permitting) or indoors for J. S. Bach's magical Cantata #82, “Ich habe genug” (“I am content”) featuring Douglas Anderson. A quintet by Bach’s son, J.C. Bach, and Brahms’ gorgeous G Major Sextet for Strings, Opus 36 complete this glorious afternoon of chamber music. Preconcert talk is at 4:15.
Wednesday August 14, 11:00 AM (inside) WIMF – CONCERT FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES Pianist Teresa Drews hosts this program, which will include Bruce Adolphe's Little Red Riding Hood for narrator and ensemble ,and songs by the Music Camp Kids, led by Marin Schutz McNeil.
Friday August 16, 7:00 PM (inside) WIMF – FOND FAREWELL The Festival Chorus is featured in Joseph Martin’s “Song of Wisdom from Old Turtle”. Narration, percussion, and Peter Nehlsen's double piano will be part of this selection conducted by Allison Vernon. Memorable works by Prokofiev, Schubert and Danish composer Otto Mortensen will round out this closing concert. Preconcert talk is at 6:45.
