Cooks' Woods
About Us:
Since 1953, the land at Cooks' Woods has been owned and managed by members of the Lamont Cook family. Dave Cook, the farm's proprietor since 1984, has raised grain and, until 1999, hogs here. In 1995, Dave and his wife Barb began to plant Christmas trees in some of the farm's unused pastures. Soon thereafter they began tapping some of the maple trees found in the east woods. Today, thousands of Christmas trees are growing on the farm and hundreds of taps are placed in the forest each spring to gather the sap used to make pure maple syrup.
The Cooks enjoy cultivating products that evoke pleasant memories for many of their customers. They invite you to visit them in the sugaring and Christmas seasons (or by appointment in any season) to experience some of the magic of the Wisconsin countryside and reconnect with the roots we all have in nature's life-giving cycles.
