Pearrygin Lake State Park
An angler casts her line into a glassy lake, and a sweater-clad camper sips a steaming mug of coffee. They gaze out, admiring the last tendrils of mist on the water as the rising sun plays on the amber hills above. Welcome to mornings at Pearrygin Lake.
White in the winter, green in the spring, gold in the summer and fall, Pearrygin Lake State Park is a park for all seasons.
In springtime, the sunny weather and shrub-steppe landscape make this park a perfect escape from the late winter grays. The spring-fed lake is a fishing oasis, and the Rex Derr Trail allows hikers to take in the lake views and endless folding hills.
In summer, a late-afternoon breeze comes up, signaling social hour. Cabin neighbors chat across decks, tiny trailer enthusiasts compare their homes on wheels, and bicyclists confer about their epic rides. Families cook, and children splash in the shallow swim areas.
Campgrounds and day-use areas close from November to April, but snowshoeing, skiing and fat-tire snow biking are popular at Pearrygin Lake.
Whether you've spent the day clocking bike miles or doing crossword puzzles in camp, you will sleep well at Pearrygin Lake and be ready for morning again.
