This spring, immerse yourself in "The Golden Hour," a solo exhibition by the Indian-born, Seattle-based painter Shruti Ghatak. Running from May 2 through June 1, the exhibition explores displacement, belongings, and identity through the lens of Ghatak's large, vibrant, and evocative paintings.
About the Exhibition
"The Golden Hour" is a window into the heart and mind of Shruti Ghatak, whose work is inspired by everyday life experiences, conversations, and personal memories. Through her intimate blend of color and form, Ghatak explores the genres of figurative landscape and portraiture, inviting viewers to step into her world—a world where the boundaries between memory, reality, and imagination blur.
About the Artist
Shruti Ghatak received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the New York Studio School, NY, and an MS in Organic Chemistry (specializing in Color Technology) from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India. Her work reflects a deep engagement with subjects from life, memory, and imagination—combining figures, landscapes, and abstract prisms of light.
"I consider my works as journal pages," says Ghatak, "An autobiography where people, places, objects, memory, and imagination collide with no particular order or rule."
