6:00 pm: Guadalupe / Tonanzin Guadalupe
The premiere of the documentary Guadalupe / Tonanzin Guadalupe will be a free public event and a celebration of Mexican culture.
Echoes of the Rio / Ecos del Rio (USA, 8 mins. 2023)

Synopsis: A woman living on the US/Mexico border invokes the voice of the Rio Grande. Guiding her through the history of migration and the symbiotic relationship with the indigenous people of the land. As the river speaks, echoes follow, ultimately exposing the socio-ecological destruction caused when the river became a border and a political weapon

The SLFF section featuring these short films presents a diverse array of narratives and styles from across the Americas. The collection showcases the rich storytelling traditions and unique cultural perspectives of Guatemala, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Chile, and the USA. Each film offers a distinct glimpse into the varied experiences and creative voices shaping contemporary cinema.
