In this course you will create a number of plates to be using two acid-free intaglio methods. Once your plates are created you will learn to wipe, print, and edition your work. This class will be accessible to all, from the novice to the advanced student.
Intaglio is a printmaking method, used by old masters and contemporary artists alike, usually done on zinc or copper, that utilizes the marks made below the surface of the plate. This class will cover the traditional method of drypoint and a new and unique process known as galvetch.
Dry point is a simple incising of the surface of the plate with an etching needle to create marks on the surface that will then be printed. Galvetch is a way of ethcing with electricity! It is an exciting process that is safe, almost entirely non toxic, and doesn't create any hazardous byproducts like etching with acid. Curious how this works? Sign up to find out!
