Spirits of Samhain Festival

The Apple Barn and Bake Shop is excited to announce its final festival of the season, Spirits of Samhain! After a summer full of nearly monthly festivals, this event promises to keep the fun rolling with family-friendly activities, tasty treats, and a variety of unique vendors. The festival will be held behind the barn in the field.

We’ve adjusted the time to better coordinate with other local events, including the Trunk or Treat festivities at Pownal Elementary and Coggins. We encourage you to make a day of it—start at the Barn and then head over to these fantastic community events!

Inspired by Samhain, a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season, our Vermont version brings a bit of Celtic charm with a Halloween twist. Friendly witches will be wandering the grounds, and both vendors and attendees are encouraged to dress up in their best costumes.

Honoring Local 4-H Clubs

We’re proud to support Vermont 4-H Clubs as our featured non-profit for this festival! They’ll be setting up their Shooting Sports Trailer, featuring an enclosed Air Rifle Shooting Range where kids (ages 8 and up) and adults can try out their marksmanship skills. Instructors and youth members from the Pownal Valley 4-H Sharpshooters will be on hand to guide new shooters through safety and marksmanship. Bennington County is home to two active 4-H Clubs: The Pownal Valley 4-H Sharpshooters and The Young Explorers.

Activities for All Ages

There’s plenty of fun in store for everyone. Here’s a sneak peek: our corn maze will be transformed into a spooky adventure you won’t want to miss! World of Wonder Entertainment will be joining us with some magical surprises. And of course, we’ll have a fantastic selection of familiar and new vendors offering all kinds of treats and treasures. Warm up with a hot cider to welcome the season or enjoy some lemonade and ice cream to savor those last tastes of summer.
