The BEAR 100 is a point to point 100 mile course that starts in Logan, UT and finishes at Fish Haven, ID at Bear Lake. The first climb is the longest, with many more long climbs to follow with varying difficulties of descent. Some descents are smooth downhill while others are rocky. The course has a great mix of varied terrain. Late September was picked for the time of the run because of the beauty of the fall colors along with the cooler weather that we enjoy during that time of the year. You will see brilliant red maples and quaking aspens turning yellow which provides for a stunning contrast among the rocks and cliffs.
The race begins at the mouth of Logan Dry Canyon, on the east bench of Logan, Utah. There are dozens of hotels within ten minutes of the start. Logan is a medium-sized university city with all the amenities you need, including an outdoor/running shop or two. It is less than two hours from the Salt Lake City International Airport.
Shuttle service from finish to start is $20 per runner (optional for those that don’t have a ride).
Awards:
All entrants will receive a beautiful tech shirt with a distinctive design. Finishers receive a belt buckle reflective of their time: a Black Bear buckle for times between 30-36 hours, a Grizzly Bear buckle for times between 24-30 hours, and a Wolverine buckle for times under 24 hours.
If you run fast enough (Top 3 Male & Female), in addition to the buckle, you will receive a small cash prize and a custom-engraved award documenting the accomplishment.
