Public Golfing Landscapes in Utah

ut public golf courses

With a range of different landscapes, Utah offers a variety of public golf courses that keep the sport exciting. From red-rock country to green mountain valleys, golfing landscapes in Utah are as picturesque as picturesque gets. These great public golf courses showcase the differentiation and beauty of Utah’s natural wonder.

Hobble Creek Golf Course, Springville, UT

Nestled in the stunning Hobble Creek Canyon, Hobble Creek Golf Course is known throughout Utah for its beauty, but also for its professionalism. A regulation, 18-hole championship golf course, it also has a snack bar, driving range, putting greens, and a chipping green. You’ll feel like you’re golfing in a small town (because you are) without feeling like you’re golfing at small town’s golf course.

Thanksgiving Point Golf Course, Lehi, UT

Covering over 200 acres, Thanksgiving Point Golf Course is the definition of sprawling. That said, it also feels quite homey. The largest golf club in Utah, Thanksgiving Point provides both variety and familiarity on state-of-the-art greens, depending on what you are craving for the day.

Hideout Golf Course, Monticello, UT

Characterized by a number of different elevations, Hideout Golf Course definitely feels like a retreat into the great unknown. Opened in 2001, the main course features 18-holes, and the golf course also has a junior course with three holes. A bit remote, Hideout Golf Course requires some travel time, but the destination is worth it.

Soldier Hollow Golf Course, Midway, UT

Nestled in Heber Valley—Utah’s Swiss Alps lookalike—Soldier Hollow has an Olympic history and a golf course so green you’ll wonder if you need to call the eye doctor. With two courses, Soldier Hollow caters to different clientele, though the “Gold” course (named for the Olympic Heritage of the site) is by far the most impressive.

Park City Golf Club, Park City, UT

There’s no doubt Park City is known for its winter sports. During the summer, however, golfing becomes an important part of the city’s outdoor identity. And although the Park City Golf Club requires reservations, it isn’t difficult to make them, and the club’s staff is incredibly accommodating and kind.

South Mountain Golf Course, Draper, UT

This course, designed by David Graham and Gary Parks, is located in the foothills in southern Salt Lake County and offers dramatic views of the Salt Lake valley. Some of the holes are well bunkered, many of which are large, but a lack of trees and water make this course feel wide open.

Sunbrook Golf Club, St. George, UT

Designed by Ted Robinson, this is the only course in southwestern Utah to feature 27 championship holes. Three separate nine-hole courses (The Pointe, Blackrock and Woodbridge), named for their unique features, can be played in combinations to make the course more different or challenging depending upon players’ abilities. This course is consistently included on Golf Digest's best courses in Utah list because of “scenery, challenge, quality and service.”

The Ledges Golf Club, St. George, UT

Often considered one of the best golf courses in Southern Utah, the Ledges Golf Club is located near Entrada, but doesn’t feel as exclusive. With nice weather year-round and slightly cooler temperatures in summer than other Southern Utah golf courses, the Ledges is pretty luxurious. Eat at the club’s Fish Rock Grille and learn from experienced golfers. Play in tournaments and spend the night. The Ledges is a good spot for golfers with a pure love for the sport.

Logan River Golf Course, Logan, UT

Situated along the cooling Logan River, the Logan River Golf Course has 18 holes and is overseen by a caring crew that takes golfing seriously without making the course feel elitist. In fact, the course is a favorite of visitors and locals, who find it welcoming, well-maintained, and accessible.
