The 9 Best Playgrounds in Utah!
It’s time to get out and play! If you want to help your little one burn off some energy, bring them to one of Utah’s many exciting playgrounds. From slides to swings sets to zip lines, your child will enjoy a day outdoors at these nine great playgrounds in Utah.
Neptune Park Playground, Saratoga Springs, UT
Built in 2012, Neptune Park Playground features Saratoga Springs’ very own Egyptian pyramid, or at least probably the closest thing Utah has to an Egyptian pyramid. In this case, however, the pyramid is a rope-based climbing structure, popular with children, but also with teenagers looking for a unique place to hang their camping hammocks. Of course, this pyramidal, spider web structure isn’t the only selling point of Neptune Park’s playground—the park’s mini zip-line is arguably just as popular. And parents can’t complain when the park also features pavilions, barbecue grills, park benches, picnic tables, restrooms, and plenty of parking.
Discovery Park Playground, Pleasant Grove, UT
Built in 1996, Discovery Park’s playground has an almost legendary reputation in Utah Valley. Built almost completely out of wood, the park’s playground is more like a fairytale exploration zone for kids, rather than a traditional playground with jungle gyms. The playground features musical instruments, a wooden castle, and plenty of nooks and crannies for a solid game of hide and seek. And this year, the Fredette Family Foundation is funding an update of the playground, so that Utah Valley residents can enjoy it even more than before.
Wild West Jordan Playground, West Jordan, UT
Somewhat similar to Pleasant Grove’s Discovery Park playground, the Wild West Jordan Playground relies less on monkey bars and swings to make up its design. Instead, the playground is a small replica of a cinematic, western-themed cowboy town, accented by slides and its very own “bank” and “town jail.” If your kids are craving more of a traditional playground experience in addition to the Wild West Jordan Playground, the Wild West Park features myriad other playgrounds in addition to this one.
Sierra Newbold Memorial Playground, West Jordan, UT
This 13,237 square-foot playground is not only huge, but is also an impeccably designed space. The playground includes slides, swings, spinners, a spider web climber, musical play panels, etc. The playground is also one of the state’s best for children with disabilities, as its rubberized surface makes it possible for children or family members in wheelchairs to get in on the fun. Not far from the playground are tennis courts, a splash pad, and multiple sports fields.
Rotary Park, Moab, UT
This park is unlike any park you've ever been to. Its well-maintained grounds feature a musical instrument park which is as crazy as it sounds. Imagine having free rein to over a dozen xylophones, steel drums, chimes, and all the rest of the bells and whistles. This favorite park will pique the interest of your little ones and keep them entertained for hours. Not only will you and your kids be entertained, but their creativity will be exercised.
Pioneer Park Playground, Provo, UT
Provo’s Pioneer Park has experienced a resurgence in popularity over the past ten years, and especially since the renovation of the park in 2013, which included the incorporation of a brand new splash pad just next to a new playground. What’s better, the park hosts the city’s farmer’s market in the summertime and early fall, meaning that parents can feed their kids, cool off their kids, and get their kids’ wiggles out all in one place.
Nielsen’s Grove Park Playground, Orem, UT
This park has kind of remained a quasi-hidden secret, which is nice because it is one of the most beautiful parks in the valley, and features a solid arsenal of playgrounds for children of all ages. The park’s main playground is more traditional, with plenty of slides, monkey bars, fireman’s poles, swings, and woodchips, but the park is also home to a carousel swing, which is a rare find.
High Adventure Park Playground, Ogden, UT
High Adventure Park has the kinds of playgrounds any child would love. Crazy looking jungle gym structures, a huge spider-web net, ladders, and swings? Sounds like a blast at any age! Its two playgrounds are unique, because they feature classic playground equipment, but also more challenging jungle gym pieces that could safely entertain adventurous children for hours.
All-Together Playground, Orem, UT
With the help of over 4,100 volunteers supervised by playground construction professionals, Orem’s All-Together Playground was built in 6.5 days in September 2016. All-Together Playground is a testament to the power of a community coming together to create something worthwhile, and in this case, it was a playground specifically designed to cater to children of all ages, as well as children both with and without disabilities. Orem’s All-Together playground could be the state’s most unique and immersive playground experience.
