#OITAATX Japan Summer Festival

The ninth annual Oita Japan Festival #OitaATX is scheduled Sunday, September 22, 11 am – 4 pm at the Long Center at 701 W. Riverside Drive, Austin, TX 78704. The Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC) hosts the event to celebrate Austin’s Japanese Sister City, Oita.

This family-friendly festival will include Japanese food and drink, kids’ activities, cultural education and more. Attendees will experience JPOP, Japanese drumming, Rakugo Japanese comedy, Japanese shodo dance calligraphy, modern-rock shamisen Japanese guitar, dancing, sumo, martial arts, kendo, jyuku, kyudo, tea ceremony, kimono dressing, doing business in Japan and making sushi seminars, a talk on Japanese gardening, and an artisan and festival marketplace. The featured performers are from our sister city of Oita, Japan.

AOSCC’s mission is to promote and heighten public interest in and appreciation of the culture, people, languages, businesses, and products between the City of Austin and Oita, Japan. Oita, one of Austin’s 13 Sister Cities, has been a Sister City to Austin since 1990.
