Longhorn Cellars

Our love for wine began unexpectedly during a trip to Napa, California in 2012. As a registered nurse and an emergency physician, we had no prior experience or knowledge about wine or the wine industry.  However, during our vacation, we were captivated by the science and artistry behind winemaking as we explored vineyards, tasting rooms, production facilities, and laboratories.  Deanna, in particular, demonstrated an exceptional palate for wine.    

Upon returning home to the Texas Hill Country, we discovered the thriving local wine industry and spent weekends exploring wineries near and far.  Our fascination grew and lead us to complete Viticulture and Enology Certificate programs through Texas Tech University and the WSET wine education program.

In 2014, we planted our first vineyard, Veraison Hills, and in 2015 we purchased our primary vineyard in San Saba County.  Our first harvest in 2016 resulted in our Texas Hill Country Tannat.  We searched for a winery location and found a small winery near Fredericksburg, which we purchased and transformed into Longhorn Cellars in 2018.

Since then, our estate wines have received numerous accolades and we continue to expand our production with a new facility currently under construction.  In 2022, we harvested a record amount of Texas Hill Country grapes, and we are excited to share more or our unique and award-winning wines with you.
