Hawk Watch
Monday, October 14, 2024 from 09:00am to 11:00am
Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park
2800 South Bentsen Palm Drive
Using keen eyesight, binoculars and spotting scopes, watch in awe and help keep count of the many raptors flying over as they continue their migration.
Join park volunteers and naturalists to spot, identify, and count thousands of migrating raptors. Hop on the shuttle and meet at the Hawk Tower every morning in September and October (weather permitting). Bring your binoculars, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and drinking water.
Birds of prey are important indicators of environmental well-being. Bentsen's annual Hawk Watch contributes to Hawk Count, a long-term study monitoring raptor population trends and the largest standardized raptor migration network in the world. Hawk Count is a project of the Hawk Migration Association of North America.
