Fall Festival - Myths and Leyendas
The MFAH hosts an action-packed family festival celebrating legends and folklore from a variety of countries and cultures in the Americas. Now in its third year, the fall festival again features new, temporary large-scale sculptures by six Houston Latinx artists. This festival highlights the Museum’s commitment to Latin American and Latino art, and art of the Indigenous Americas.
This year’s festival—“Myths and Leyendas”—includes food, live music, and dance performances on the Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza. Play a lotería game with cards featuring MFAH works of art, and wander through the Cullen Sculpture Garden to discover the sculptures and join in art-making activities.

Tickets are free to the Museum and the festival activities, thanks to the generosity of H-E-B.
Advance free tickets are available here. On the day of the festival, free tickets are available at each festival entry and any Museum admission desk. The same ticket provides free access to both the festival and Museum. Advance tickets are encouraged.
Visitors can explore the galleries to see works of art represented in the lotería game plus all of the art on view, which spans 5,000 years and six continents.
Entrance to the festival opens at 12:30 p.m. and the activities begin at 1 p.m. The Museum is open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

“Myths and Leyendas” Overview
The six artists creating festival sculptures are Loriana Espinel, Diana Gonzalez, Francisco Pereira, Jean Sandoval, Alma Soto, and Ashley Raquel Trejo. They were selected through a partnership between the MFAH and ALMAAHH (Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County).
The sculptures remain on view through November 17.
