This Tennessee camping spot probably isn’t much of a surprise, but the Smokies are a must see if you’re anywhere close to Gatlinburg. The Balsam Mountain Campground is a favorite among campers with stunning mountain and sunrise views in the morning.

Frozen Head State Park, Wartburg, TN

Frozen Head is the perfect camping spot if you’re looking to see a waterfall. This park has many trails, which are great for hiking, backpacking and seeing just how serene nature can be. Visit in the fall to see the gorgeous leaves when they have changed to their warm autumn colors.

Cherokee National Forest, Tellico Plains, TN

South Cumberland State Park, Jasper, TN

This hidden gem is amazing because of the short hike to the Foster Falls waterfall overlook from the parking lot. Most sites are shaded and provide the perfect amount of cover from the hot sun. This campground is even open year-round!

Henry Horton State Park, Chapel Hill, TN

Henry Horton State Park is unique because it has a trap and skeet shooting range that offers gun rentals. There is also over 10 miles of hiking, making it the perfect place to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.

Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns, TN

Montgomery Bell State Park offers both cabins and campgrounds for tents and RVs. Some of the campsites have views of the bank of the creek. The swim beach which is close by on Lake Acorn is free and a great way to spend time with family or friends.
