One of our absolute favorite features of autumn is the annual emergence of corn mazes. South Dakota’s rich agricultural background makes the state an excellent place for a maze. Head to the best corn mazes in South Dakota for some family-friendly fall fun! 


Heartland Country Corn Maze, Harrisburg, SD

The Heartland Country Corn Maze is enjoyable for the entire family! This autumn hotspot has an 11-acre life-size maze in the corn field. This maze has a twist too! The maze has a map and list of questions. Find the 10 checkpoints to find the answers. Find the hidden checkpoint and get a free treat from the Concession Barn! Head to the farm at night for the spooky flashlight nights, in which guests navigate the maze with a flashlight and the light of the moon to guide the way. It is open for the fall season, from around mid-August to late October.

Spearfish Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch, Spearfish, SD

Just outside of Spearfish, this corn maze and pumpkin patch has loads of family-friendly activities and events. Closer to Halloween, the corn maze will become a haunted maze after dark! In addition to pumpkin picking and corn maze, the farm offers other activities like barrel train, hay jump, tire climb, duck race, bale pets, corn box, and petting zoo. Don’t rely on GPS, instead get directions from their website. The farm is open in the fall season from early September through early November. 

Corn Maze at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, Brandon, SD

At Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park camping area, there is a huge seven-acre corn maze full of exciting twists, turns, and dead ends. The maze is also open after dark for a spooky maze adventure. The park has other children activities including a jumping pillow, theme weekends, pedal cart and golf cart rentals, heated swimming pool, indoor theater, mini golf, volleyball, and basketball.
