Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College are excited to announce and promote, the Light Up the Night 5K Run, Walk, Roll, or Stroll. This event was organized to highlight Interpersonal Violence Awareness in October.  Like many other colleges and universities nationwide, CCU and HGTC pledge to continue to offer support, resources, and further conversations surrounding the issue of dating violence among those in our college community. Movement is medicine, there is strength in numbers and power in community! Let’s move together and show survivors they are not fighting their battle alone.

Race proceeds will benefit the CHANT-I-CARE Assistance Fund, a compensation fund designed to assist student survivors of violence.  In 2023, race proceeds brought in just over $9K, and we look to expand this fund as our campus communities continue to grow.  Your continued support is appreciated!

All registered participants will receive a swag bag and race t-shirt.

Immediately following the race will be an awards ceremony as well as opportunities to support the cause with raffle baskets, so bring your cash to support this cause!  Post-race awards will be held at Brooks Stadium on Coastal Carolina University's campus, immediately following the last runner.

The Light Up the Night 5K is Friday, October 25, 2024 on CCU’s campus at 7:30 P.M. It is open to participants of all ages and abilities.

Race Course:  The race will begin on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.  The race start will be on University Blvd near Brooks Stadium.  Runners will travel toward the HGTC campus on University Blvd.  Runners will complete a loop in and around the HGTC campus and come back around the CCU round-about entering into CCU's campus on Chanticleer Drive E.  Runners will complete the CCU campus loop then turn right onto University Blvd and run towards Brooks Stadium.  Runners will proceed to the route into the Brooks Stadium to complete the finish on the teal turf.
