10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m: Free Museum Days: Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
Located in Philadelphia, PA, the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum is one of the world’s greatest collections of racing sports cars. Through our theme, "The Spirit of Competition", we celebrate the history and evolution of these magnificent machines. Assembled over 50 years by Dr. Frederick Simeone, the Museum contains over 75 historically significant cars including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Mercedes, Jaguar, Bentley, Porsche, Aston Martin, Corvette, Ford, and more.
12:00 p.m - 4:00 p.m: Free Museum Days: American Swedish Historical Museum
Nestled in the bucolic Franklin D. Roosevelt Park in South Philadelphia, PA, the American Swedish Historical Museum was built in 1926 to celebrate Swedish heritage and culture in America. During your visit, explore our 12 galleries focusing on different aspects of Swedish-American history, art, science, textiles, and community. Step inside a 19th-century farmhouse, take in the setting of an art deco lounge, or surround yourself with contemporary Swedish design. You can also visit the Gift Shop to try unique Swedish candy and bring home beautiful Scandinavian decor!
7:00 p.m: Gospel On Independence: Featuring Tamela Mann
Join us for a moving and soul-stirring performance by the Welcome America Mass Choir under the direction of Austin Woodlin and Zak Williams, debuting Created 4 This dance ensemble and 215 Gospel performers. This year’s performance, hosted by WDAS Patty Jackson, pays tribute to 1 Corinthians 13:13 – And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. New this year, Gospel on Independence will feature a performance by Grammy-Award winning gospel singer and actress Tamela Mann.
Along with her Grammy Award, Mann has earned many other accolades and honors, including multiple NAACP Image Awards, a Billboard Music Award, an American Music Award, and a BET Award. In 2022, she was inducted into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. In 2023, she broke the record for the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart with ten of her songs topping the chart. Seats are limited and available on a first come first serve basis. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and/or blankets to enjoy this free concert on the lawn of Independence National Historical Park.
