Celebrate the 4th of July by experiencing the splendor of the night sky at Cherry Springs State Park. Observe the constellations through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff.
Look for various objects that are sparkley, red, white, and blue! Listen as we recount the legends and myths surrounding these mysterious patterns in the sky. Learn about park history, current use, and the importance of dark night skies.
Telescopes available from roughly 10 PM and later. Telescope availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability, weather conditions, and crowd size limitations.
Registration encouraged, but not required. Should we need to cancel or modify a program due to weather, etc., we will email all registered participants. Optional registration will open 45 days before the program.

Location: Google Maps pin for parking here. Park programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the lot and follow the gravel walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Bench seating is limited, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket.
When to Arrive: All visitors should arrive before dark. You may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program.
Pets: No pets, please. Trained service animals welcome. Dim lighting, large crowds and sensitive equipment can create do not create a pet-friendly environment. We ask that park visitors leave their pets at home.
Weather: All programs will be cancelled in the event of thunder or downpours. Check the Stargazing Forecast or Clear Sky Chart for forecasts of viewing conditions.
Note to those with noise sensitivities: while there will not be fireworks at this program, you may be able to hear (and possibly see) fireworks from nearby township celebrations.
