McConnell's Nursery
McConnell's Nursery is now made up of over 70 acres of evergreens and deciduous trees. We specially dig each tree with our 24", 30" or 34" tree diggers. The machines allows us to dig trees ranging in size from 4' up to 9' or with up to a 3 1/2" caliper. We provide quality B&B material for garden centers, landscape contractors and wholesalers throughout the area and as far as 300 miles away.
Weather dependent, our dig seasons are generally from March to May and again in the fall months. We can provide shipping through a local company at an additional cost.
We have a collection of perennials consisting of native favorites and a large selection of daylilies. McConnell's is also a Choose-n-Cut Tree Farm during the Christmas season.
History
McConnell's Nursery was founded in 1975 when Richard McConnell bought the land off his father, who operated a dairy farm. Richard and his wife, Christine, then began to use the land to grow evergreen trees such as; Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, and Blue Spruce. In the following years, they continued to plant and experiment with several kinds of evergreens and deciduous trees as well as shrubs and groundcover.
Their children; Scott, Gretchen, Jen, always knew they had work to do around the farm. Richard, Scott and Jen all graduated from the horticulture department at Penn State University and are still on the farm.
McConnell's Nursery is now made up over 70 acres of evergreens and deciduous trees and continues to expand.
