Linda's Speedway - Smokey Warren Tribute Night
As Linda's Speedway prepares for the poignant Smokey Warren Tribute Night on Friday, September 13th, the spotlight not only celebrates the legacy of a racing legend but also shines on the compelling narratives of current competitors. One that captures attention is that of Eric Whitby.
Despite the scarcity of his appearances at Linda's Speedway this season, Eric Whitby has made an impression each time his car has hit the dirt. Demonstrating his natural capability to be a frontrunner, Whitby has put forth a powerful showing with a fourth-place finish and a step further onto the podium with a second-place finish in feature races this season.
The resilience in Whitby's racing spirit was put to the test during last year's Modified 50 when, after an electrifying start that saw him leading the pack for 11 laps, a mechanical issue forced an abrupt end to what could have been a winning drive. That evening, his qualifying effort was undeniable, as he clocked the second-fastest time and followed it up by winning his heat race.
Entering the gates for the Smokey Warren Tribute Night, Whitby is a driver with a point to prove—to settle unfinished business from last year's led laps and the “what if” that hangs in the back of his mind. As a long time fan of racing in our area, there seems no better stage to provide redemption than the 54 lap tribute race Friday Night.
In the backdrop of this motorsport spectacle, fans will be paying tribute to a racer whose life exemplified passion, resilience, and community – Glenn "Smokey" Warren. Attendees can expect an electric atmosphere. For updates on the event and end-of-year festivities, viewers are encouraged to follow Linda’s Speedway on social media and visit LindasSpeedway.com.
