About:

Blue Moon Cruisers – where we started… In the beginning of August 1992, a bunch of guys got together at Chuck Hollenbach’s Texaco station at 10th and Louther Streets in Lemoyne, PA, and talked about starting a car club.

Towards the end of that August a bigger group gathered at John Kaufman’s garage and discussed some of the finer details of a “car club”. Items like logo, name, cut-off year, family or motor-head oriented and whether to incorporate or not.

Our first “real” meeting was held at Wanda’s bar on the Carlisle Pike on September 22, 1992. We had the nomination of officers, to be voted on in November – because there was no meeting in October.

There were 14 different sketches submitted for the logo design, and probably just as many if not more names. A logo drawn by one of Ron Bloses’ employees, and the name submitted by Dorothy Kaufman, were chosen at the November 3rd meeting. Thus, we became the Blue Moon Cruisers (BMC) with the ‘unique’ logo.

Our first club fundraiser was a 50/50 run by John Kaufman, with a second drawing for a Marilyn Monroe poster. The poster was then donated back to the Club to be auctioned to the highest bidder. The highest bidder, John Neidinger, then donated the poster back to the Club to be used as our mascot. Dominic put the poster in lights and plexiglas for the Club.

Our first Club award was the Pumpkin Award, earned in 1993 for having 13 vehicles in the Mechanicsburg Halloween Parade.

Anyone joining the BMC Club in November 1992 would be a “charter member”. We had 36 members at the adjournment of the November 3rd meeting – of those 36 members 9 remain members.

As of December 31, 2019, we had 490 members. Some of us are “classic”, some of us are “antique”, some of us are “kit”, some of us are “street rod”. ALL of us are in love with cars.
