Oregon City Festival of the Arts
In February of 2007, a group of artists held their first organizational meeting at the Pioneer Community Center in Oregon City, and participated in the first heART of Oregon Show at the Museum of the Oregon Territory that same month. By March the by-laws were approved, and the Three Rivers Artist Guild became official. Within that first year TRAG was invited to participate in the gallery at the End of the Trail Interpretive Center, became a member of the OC Chamber of Commerce, took part in the Sky Light Gallery hosted by the Arts Action Alliance, hosted a recycled art show, and installed an art exhibition and sale for Clackamas Live in Milwaukie – an auspicious beginning! Since then TRAG has been an active and proud member of the OC Chamber of Commerce, the O/C Business Alliance, Buy Local Oregon City, and proud supporters of the Clackamas Art Alliance and the Regional Arts Alliance.
In 2009, TRAG opened its own Gallery inside the Friends of the Library Bookstore. Needing a larger space, TRAG opened up its current Gallery inside the Singer Hill building on March 1, 2015, and received their 501c(3) status that same year. Every three months the TRAG Gallery issues a Call for Artists to participate in the next rotation, and the Gallery hosts anywhere from 30-40 new artists every other month. The artworks feature many mediums including pottery, cottage crafts, fine jewelry, original oil and acrylics, photography, glasswork, woodwork, and much more. Many of our Artists have never had the opportunity to display Art in a gallery and it is an exciting learning experience for the participants. Since TRAG operates strictly on a volunteer basis, the Gallery artists are taught how to hang and display art, and manage a gallery. Each participant is asked to volunteer one day a month for each month they participate.
