Cubanisimo Vineyards
Open: Year-round
The vineyards face southeast from a 650 foot elevation and have sweeping views of Oregon's wine rich Willamette Valley. Initially in 1991, eight acres of Pommard grapes were planted on Jory and Nekia soils of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. We planted two more acres of Pinot clones (115 & 777), on rootstock (101-14) in 2001 and we planted 2.5 acres of Pinot Gris in 2007. Early harvests provided grapes for King Estate, Erath and Evesham Wood. In 2003, Cubanisimo started producing estate wines with 540 cases produced.
Currently, we are producing approximately 800 cases of Estate Pinot Noir each year and another 1000 cases that blend our estate grapes with other Pinot Noir grapes sourced from vineyards in the Willamette Valley. We produce about 150 cases annually of our Rosado de Pinot Noir with our estate grapes and plan to increase our Pinot Gris production as our vineyard begins producing more fruit.
Extracting the finest elements nature will yield from the grapes and the terroir are at the heart of Cubanisimo's winemaking philosophy. We feel the fine balance of stress and nurture achieved by the 5 x 7 foot spacing and the absence of irrigation will add complexity and depth of flavor to our Pinots.
