9 Best Burgers in Oregon!

or burger

Oregonians love their burgers. Throughout the region, unique hamburger chains have cropped up like wildfire, spreading throughout the tri-state area, leaving their char-grilled marks on an old American faithful. Below, you’ll find 9 of our favorite burger joints in Oregon that best encapsulate this new entrepreneurial spirit.

Big Burger Drive-In, Molalla, OR

Big Burger Drive-In has been serving Molalla, Oregon, for over 50 years. The key to their success? Consistent taste and service. All burgers are served with homemade sauce, lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. Choose from seven different burgers, ranging from your standard patty all the way up to the bacon triple cheeseburger. Go for the Boca Burger if you’re interested in a lighter option. Sandwiches, fries, milkshake’s and sides round out the menu. Try their deep-fried mushrooms if you’re up for an adventure.

Killer Burger, Multiple locations

Killer Burger is one of the fastest growing small chains in the Oregon/Washington state area, with seven Oregon locations and counting. Every burger is a one-third pound, made from 100 percent beef and included bacon and fries. New and unique burgers are added to the menu all the time, like the Meathead (bacon, two patties, cheddar, grilled onion, and house sauce). If you can only eat one Killer Burger burger, go for the Peanut-Butter-Pickle-Bacon (bacon, PB sauce, smoky house sauce, mayo, grilled onion, and pickle).

Little Big Burger, Multiple locations

Little Big Burger is a newer Oregon-based chain serving up delicious sliders in a stylish setting. All burgers are made with a quarter-pound of “cascade natural beef, brioche buns, local cheeses, fresh veggies, and Camden’s catsup.” Choose from the cheese burger, hamburger, or veggie burger. Add on an order of truffle fries and a root beer float to round it out. The selection of local microbrews and ciders is outstanding.

Burgerville, Multiple locations

Another Oregon/Washington, privately owned chain, Burgerville has five Oregon locations: in the Dalles, Albany, Corvallis, Oregon City, and Canby. Burgerville began with a single restaurant in 1961 and has since grown to where it is today by embracing the same values it began with of sticking with fresh, local food. Sustainability is a cornerstone of their operating philosophy. The menu is seasonal, changing to highlight the best Northwest ingredients. Choose from six different key burgers, including the Tillamook Cheeseburger, made with Tillamook cheddar, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, tomato, and lettuce on a sesame seed bun.

Joe’s Burgers, Multiple locations

Joe’s Burgers is a local chain with locations on Oregon campuses. You can find Joe’s Burgers in Tigard, Oregon, as well as at Portland State University, Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon. The menus differ slightly from location to location, but you can count on the same delicious burgers, fries, and hot dogs at each. Try the Black and Blue burger, made with blue cheese crumbles, jalapenos, bacon, onion rings, mayo, lettuce, and tomato, to get the best out of your visit.

Bridgeside Family Dining, Cascade Locks, OR

Bridgeside Family Dining is the new name for the 1946 drive-in style restaurant Clarks, which became Charburger. “Plans are to continue serving affordable, home-style food, focusing on char-roiled burgers, with other menu options, too,” says the new owners. The Original Char Burger is still on the menu, but we’d recommend trying the Big Island, made with shaved ham, grilled pineapple, Swiss cheese with a tropical peppadew sauce.

Junkyard Extreme Burgers + Brats, Junction City, OR

Junkyard Extreme Burgers + Brats is all rocker-attitude. Their burgers are made with a custom-blended half-pound fresh local beef and served with chips. The Junkyard Extreme burger is the go-to, and includes mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and THE JUNKYARD’s signature fried cheese with pepperoni and jalapeno. The brats, sausages, and hotdogs are pretty great, too. To see the Junkyard for yourself, check out their episode of the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”

DickieJo’s Burgers, Eugene, OR

DickieJo’s Burgers “is a fast casual restaurant specializing in griddle-pressed burgers, French fries, and premium soft serve shakes,” according to their welcome page. The menu includes burgers, veggie patties, fries, shakes, hot dogs, chicken, and kid’s meals. When you’re done with your burger, head over to the attached frozen yogurt joint for dessert.

Bend Burger Company, Bend, OR

Bend Burger Company is celebrating almost ten years serving up one-of-a-kind burgers to the fine folks of Bend, Oregon, now with two locations. All burgers are served with fries. Choose from steak sandwiches, chicken sandwiched, “old favorites” like grilled cheese and BLT, burgers, mini-burgers, salads, and fries. The Ponderosa comes with pepper jack A1 sauce, barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomato, Bend Burger Sauce, and is topped with two onion rings. Get it with sweet potato tots.
