Rainbow Run
One important part of becoming a bat mitzvah is completing a mitzvah project -it includes a mitzvah - doing a good deed and the idea of tikun olam - repairing the world. Since running is one of my passions, for my mitzvah project, I am organizing a 5k run/walk to raise money and awareness for the Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Kaleidoscope Youth Center supports queer youth of Ohio. Founded in 1994, Kaleidoscope is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission "to work in partnership with young people in Central Ohio to create safe and empowering spaces for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning and Ally youth through advocacy, education, support, and community engagement."
I believe this organization does awesome work to empower queer kids and young adults. They have drop-in hours throughout the week after school, a variety of clubs, social activities, an LGBTQIA+ advocacy group, and many other programs as well.
I want to support my queer family, friends, and community members! I want them to know they belong, are welcomed and supported, and are loved. By supporting Kaleidoscope Youth Center we are empowering our community and engaging in the work of repairing our world.
Join us on Sunday, May 26, 2024, for the inaugural Rainbow Run at the Dublin Recreation Center in Dublin, Ohio! All proceeds to be given to Kaleidoscope Youth Center. We have options for an in-person or virtual 5K. We'll see you there!
