The Kevin Peck Memorial Run was established in honor of Kevin Peck, a 1998 graduate of Northwest High School who was tragically killed in December of 2011.  Kevin was a state qualifying track and cross country runner.  His untimely death was a tragedy to all who knew him.  In his memory, the Kevin Peck Perseverance Award Scholarship was created.

Kevin often lamented that the hardest step of running was the first.  He held the belief that hard work would pay off, and once he got going, eventually he would reach his goal if he kept at it.  It is with this in mind that this award is presented, to serve as a first step.

On behalf of the friends and family of Kevin Peck, we have the honor of presenting this award to the senior athlete whose performance dramatically improved from their first season running through their last.  This does not necessarily mean the fastest runner or MVP.  It is the athlete who reflects the determination, focus and drive that Kevin had to persevere, and become the outstanding runner that he was.  Please take the "First Step" and join the run.
