Diabetes Dash 5K Run/Walk
The Diabetes Dash 5K came to be a short time after Ryan Washburn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in July 2018. After diagnosis, Ryan became very interested in the work of JDRF and knew he wanted to do his part in spreading awareness, giving hope to those dealing with the disease, and fighting for a cure. Not only is our mission to help fund the research efforts to someday find a cure, but we also want to educate the community about Type 1 Diabetes. Proceeds will be donated to JDRF - Southern & Central Ohio Chapter and a scholarship fund of $1,000 will be awarded to a Westerville City School graduating senior living with T1D in 2024.
We would love to have those who are unable to attend on race day join us virtually! Sign up for the virtual 5K and the Diabetes Dash will come to YOU!
Event Schedule:
7:00 AM - On-site race day pickup begins at the event venue
8:15 AM - The Kids Run begins, with athletes running ~100 meters to the finish line!
8:00 AM - We suggest that all participants arrive by this time on race day to allow time for parking
8:30 AM - The Diabetes Dash 5K is underway
9:30 AM - Awards presentation in the shelter building
Awards
Awards will be provided to top finishers as follows: the top three overall male and female participants, and the top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.
