6:00 - 11:00 PM: Opening Night Reception, Films & Afterparty

Join us for a fun night out as we celebrate creativity and kick off the 2024 festival with our 12th Annual YoFi Fest's opening night Red Carpet Reception!

It's a fun and casual evening for filmmakers, film fans and creative people of all types to meet and mingle.

The evening includes "A Taste of Yonkers" with a sampling of food and beverages from local companies, including One Pier Steakhouse, Taquerio, La Bella Havana, Yonkers Brewing Co., Nahmias et Fils Distillery and more.

Then, at 7:30pm, we head into the theater for a specially curated selection of short films.

Then, it’s off to the annual Opening Night Afterparty at Zuppa Restaurant and Lounge!

6:00 PM: Baby Bumps

All hell breaks loose when Beth, a high-strung mother-to-be, is gifted the wrong stroller at her baby shower. As her childless and slightly-chaotic best friends Sara, Tara, and Clara try (and fail) to relate, Beth goes into full meltdown mode. Through recorded video messages for her unborn child, we learn that Beth might not feel as prepared for motherhood as she lets on. Luckily, her friends—quirky as they may be—will always have her back.

6:00 PM: Breakfast Salad

They say; “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” What’s important is: they’re right.

Breakfast Salad asks the hard questions like: wouldn’t it be nice to have a group of friends to regularly get breakfast with? (Obviously it would, who are we kidding?) And other questions like: what truly belongs on the breakfast table and would you fight for what’s right… for breakfast?

6:00 PM: The Girl with the Rivet Gun

Almost ten years in the making, The Girl with the Rivet Gun is an unconventional animated documentary short based on the adventures of three real-life “Rosie the Riveters” - Esther Horne, Susan Taylor King and Mildred Crow Sargent. From vastly different backgrounds, these three women came of age in an America united by war but struggling with divisions of gender, economics and race. Made entirely by women filmmakers - including Emmy Award winning directors Anne de Mare and Kirsten Kelly, Christopher Award winning producer Elizabeth Hemmerdinger, and Helen Hill Award winning animator Danielle Ash - The Girl with the Rivet Gun serves as entry point to a rich, layered, and adventurous rewriting of history as herstory, inspiring conversations about working women everywhere.
