Taconic Opera, celebrating its 27^th year, is opening its 2024-2025 season with a production of probably the most popular opera of all times: Georges Bizet’s CARMEN.This not-to-be-missed event will take place in the company’s NEW opera performance venue, the historic, beloved and acoustically fabulous Tarrytown Music Hall.

Taconic Opera’s production of Carmen will be a retelling of a theme familiar in all generations. Innocent young man (Don José) meets fiery young woman (Carmen).She charms him into leaving an adoring girlfriend, leads him astray into a life of crime, leaves him for someone famous, and refuses his pleas to return to him. His pain and jealousy cloud his judgement and turn his love into anger, leading him to do the unthinkable. Bizet’s music is undeniably exciting, spirited, memorable, and instantly likeable. It includes the famous Habanera and the March of the Toreadors.
