When Chicago rock musician Stuart Chaseman appeared on Season One of the Netflix show "Jewish Matchmaking" audiences were captivated by his deadpan humor, musical abilities, and strong stance on social justice. As a result, he became the most beloved personality on the show, with re-posts of his quips reaching over 24 million views on TikTok.
Now, the longtime rocker is performing with his band, The Born Again Sinners, on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at The Cutting Room in New York City. Tickets range from $20 to $25.
At the show, Chaseman will be performing songs from his latest album, Secrets, Lies and Alibis, as well as his older catalogue and many covers of classic rock songs.
In addition, Chaseman will host a symposium to tell behind-the-scenes stories about what it's really like to be on reality TV and answer questions from the audience about his time on the popular Netflix show.
Known for his gritty voice and sensitive lyrics, Chaseman's distinctive sound takes reference from American roots rock artists such as Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. He released his previous solo album, Next Exit... Brigadoon, in 2010.
His newest album, Secrets, Lies and Alibis, features original songs that draw inspiration from Chaseman's past experiences with failed relationships.
"It's ironic that so many of the songs on the album are about failed relationships, and then right after it came out, I ended up on a Jewish dating show," Chaseman said. "I guess expressing myself through my music helped me get prepared to finally have a positive romantic relationship."
