The Saul and Harriet M. Rothkopf Media Program
Join filmmaker Jem Cohen for a screening of The Ballad of Philip Guston (2023, HD, 28 min) an evocative short piece in which Cohen connects with the work and legacy of the painter Philip Guston (1913-1980) through first-person reflection. Cohen is known for a unique style of filmmaking, at once, unadorned, lyrical, sincere, and yet also raw and confronting. His work often explores deeper themes in society, a parallel to the work of both visual artists in the exhibition, Draw Them In, Paint Them Out: Trenton Doyle Hancock Confronts Philip Guston.
This program has been funded by a generous donation endowment from the Saul and Harriet M. Rothkopf Family Foundation.
